Theaters will let kids into R-rated films as long as they're accompanied by an adult. The only time they can't is if it's rated NC-17/unrated, but most major theaters won't show those kinds of films anyway.

Yeaaaah, the more I find out about this the more it makes sense that Trent's involved.

The video was interesting, and the music sounds good.

Minor grumble: It was a bit disappointing to see the cliché of the mother birthing whilst lying on her back. The ubiquity of this position is a relatively modern phenomenon, that became common in the 20th century because it was most convenient for doctors (forget about how terrible the position is for the mother, who then has to work against gravity and her coccyx). But in the times in which this film is apparently set, an upright position would have been the norm - most likely a squat. Anyway...

most likely the trials women face during pregnancy and childbirth are part of the story.

Yes I think so. I guess I think it might send a stronger message to show her birthing in a more natural position - which I'm sure would be a bit shocking for many because we're all so used to the way birth is typically portrayed - but obviously I haven't seen the film and know nothing of the broader context of that scene.

If the album is tied to a IMAX longform video, does that basically mean that there will be a Deluxe Version with the movie included somewhere down the road to double dip on?

I'm super excited for this but the more i think about it the more I hope it's not Halsey singing over TR+AR soundtrack style instrumentation.

Her entire catalog is available in MQA, but (Manic) is the only one I know of in Atmos.

I doubt it will be just that. She's still a pop star who earns a living making singles that get tons of radio play. If you look at Beyonce's Lemonade or Janelle Monae's Dirty Computer, they're narrative pieces with an overarching story, but they still have fun pop music videos in the middle (some of which aren't even trying very hard to fit into the narrative).

IICHLIWP seems to be more committed to being a cohesive film than those examples, but I could still see it having room for some pop music / music video stuff. I'm specifically thinking of the shots of her and her friends drinking and carrying on. That could operate as a fun standalone pop video out of context, but then in the context of the film it's just a calm before the storm to show us what's being taken away from her when bad thing X happens.

Took a lot longer than I hoped it would but the LE gold vinyl from the main website finally sold out. Still no indication of the run size.

I’m not sure this has expectations of a surefire pop hit album, sounds too weird and dark for that. Which is kind of a shame as I was hoping for the fulfillment of the parallel universe alluded to in Kennedy’s memoir (where Madonna said to Kennedy she was phoning Trents studio for a collaboration but he wouldn’t respond) where Trent produced a Madonna album rather than the ugly clown album that we got. A much better timeline that would have been

My dad got us illegal cable that let you get all the pay channels, including Pay Per View and the dirty channels. I saw Showgirls when I was 12 years old. No one gave a shit. No wonder children these days are all fucked in the head from being overly protected and shielded from everyday life.
Children these days can watch everything from ISIS beheadings, to drug cartels ripping people's hearts out while they're still alive, to any imaginable form of pornography, on a device they carry in their pocket. Hell, they might even catch a live stream of a mass shooting if they act fast. Not to mention, tablets with Netflix and the like are regularly used as babysitters.

Kids may be shielded from playing outside all day without having to check in and such but I'd argue that with access to content meant for adults, including REALLY depraved porn and Not Safe For Life gore content, it's very much the other way around.

    ANYWAY, sorry for drift.

So, this Halsey: is she usually good?

The trailer looks fucking great. @tony.parente , I think this is going to be more cohesive, musically. Some of those lines in the video sound like they come right before the beat drops, you know?

A couple posts after that, I wrote "Kids these days will find a way to watch it whether it is in theaters or not" because, like you said, kids have access to everything.

Just found this clip (apparently from another site). This sounds pretty great and nothing like what I would have expected. Kind of a Fragile vibe:

I survived the weird death game thing on the lxxxxp web site and got early access to pre-order a $45 CD box with bandanas. Passed on the opportunity.

I don't have a full Atmos set-up but I would love to hear a version on my 5.1 rig, or even a binaural stereo fold-down. These versions tend to be more dynamic than the regular stereo edition:

What the hell is the trick there? I was just aimlessly clicking on options.

Absolutely no idea. I think it's more "interesting" than simply releasing song snippets or announcing even more limited merch on social media.
