Funnily enough I find the live audio of the Decoder DVD (the show they performed here in Sydney in 2009) to be the best.

Except the DVD is missing The Fall (the older version before it was more refined), so I ripped the audio of that from the moshcam site and put it in the spot where it should be.

If anyone wants the DVD audio of that (inclusive of The Fall that I added in), let me know. That live rendition of In A Dark Place from Decoder is so awesome (dat extended intro...) and am not sure how many other times it's been done live like that.

I would like to have that audio in mp3 format if you can, that would be awesome.

But I have been meaning to get this (Decoder) for a while now.

IMO, The Pleasure Principle Live has the best-sounding mix out of all the many concert releases Numan's ever put out (and I've heard them all).

2011 - Decoder (DVD Audio + The Fall)

Obviously the quality of The Fall differs since it's a rip from the flash, but it's good enough to my ears and fills the hole. I also ripped the video of it and put it as a single disc inside the snap case for my Decoder DVD.

I can provide the video file for that if anyone wants it too, here (VOB rip from my disc):

Mine came with the spine bent on the case (not the outer). Was a bit disappointed given what I paid for it. It can't have happened in transit either. It got to me real quick though which was a plus. Haven't watched yet. Gave Jagged Live a listen, quality performance, loved it.

There are three audio sources for Jagged Live: the CD, a bootleg version which also contains the encore after the title track, and the DVD version audio.

The DVD version audio is the best mixed in my opinion. I have it ripped to mp3 if you'd like it.

Well, not all of it, some of his flying stories are a good read, but too many of them repeat throughout the book. I was just a little disappointed that there wasn't much about the making of his albums, the odd paragraph would gloss over his hopes and aspirations for each album, and then would go back to talking about money troubles and the radio stations / press being dicks.

Oh well, it was cool to read none the less, just as a musician I was hoping for more depth on his music, I blame Steve Mallins, he did the same thing with the Depeche Mode biography, glossed over the technical details to get to the drama.
While I did notice that a lot of his book was about flying, I enjoyed it. I had heard about his flying adventures but to actually read about it was pretty great in my opinion.

I agree that there should have been a little more along the lines of album creations. I thought about the direction of Telekon to Dance - it was pretty experimental compared to TPP and Telekon. Slow Car to China springs to mind. I love Dance (I have a DJ Promo of it) but when I first heard it, I had heard I, Assassin and half of Warriors before then so it kind of threw me in a loop. I love Night Talk and You Are, You Are - I think those are some top tracks from the album. I love Stormtrooper in Drag and I like how Gary incorporated Moral and Metal during one of his live recordings.

EDIT: I think it was Live in London (US release) that incorporated the Moral + Metal deal.

You're probably thinking of Hope Bleeds. I love that live album/DVD, it's the first one of his I bought.

Is there a soundboard recording of the pleasure principal anniversary tour?
Or an audio rip of the Sydney show that is online?

I think you're right. I think Live in London had Friends (Pure version) on it.

Hope Bleeds is a great one, I like how he performed My Breathing during that show.

Yes... he starts doing "Pure" on Hope Bleeds but forgets the words and goes into "Friends" instead!

Recently I have been looking at the box set of 80-81 vinyl, I think I'm going to wait and see if Splinter is released later this year (deluxe edition hopefully).

Got a Numan email earlier today about the store, showing that there are still a few Machine Music dvds left - Hopefully, next pay check or two I'll be able to order it.

I recently saw Gary is auctioning off his hat from the Music For Chameleons video. I don't have the link right now but if I get some free time, I'll post it.

    I WANTED THAT HAT.

Yeah, I heard that - the Machine Music interview was on youtube. I don't know if I want to wear a moldy hat, but if they could clean it up somehow then that would be great. I just figured it was too far gone to be saved.

The hats were definitely amazing in that era of Numan's career. Look at this sweetheart that Pino Palladino's rockin' on the Top of the Pops performance of "We Take Mystery (To Bed)":
