The character is singing the praises of plagiarism and you're expecting him to explain words he didn't even write. Come on, man, think.

In all seriousness, though, I just couldn't think of a way to parody that line, and the original works well enough (or so I thought) in its new context. Repeating the same lines with an entirely new context is something I like doing with my parodies - though being a lazy songwriter is probably a factor there as well. Anyway, as I see it, the "circumstance" could be accepting his promotion, resorting to plagiarism in the first place, or a combination of both.
