It was pretty disappointing compared to The Fall... It still looks pretty good, but overall I was less than impressed.
The Fall

the clip wont work outside of the UK
Just watched Taxi Driver again. Spread it out over a couple days so my psychosis could catch a break. Was better than i remembered, plus it was the special dvd edition and most of the extra stuffs was pretty good as well. Attempted to throw back to teh 90's and watch Singles but my comp wouldn't read the dvd for some reason.
The Criterion Blu-ray arrived in the mail Friday. This and Thin Red Line (and maybe To The Wonder) are the Malick films I can best wrap my head around.
Just rented "A Good Day to Die Hard". Let's do this thing.
I've seen Machete and it's good, but in entirely different way.
Yesterday this gem played in an open air cinema in a park.
brilliant.
oh man, i must watch this film.
before i hit play, i thought it was going to be from Adventures In Dinosaur City (starring everyone's favorite, Omri Katz)
finished the two seasons. I did like it. Watching in a row, the gratuitous sex scenes were a bit much, but just about all the characters has some depth and purpose. It's too bad the series was cancelled. They probably could have squeezed another season out with a descent plot.
The opening credits song has Robert Plant singing. First couple of times, I swore it was Jack White.
On to The Wire.
Has anyone seemed Frances Ha? I'm thinking about going next week.
Archer, season one! First timer, loving it.
The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. Seems a bit unreasonable to call it a 'meditation' on anything, given that every scene is quite focused and important to the plot, but it does offer some troubling contemplation of hero worship and celebrity, escalations and realisations of paranoia, and an outstanding character study of someone who's hollow and awkward, and not quite able to hide it from others. Accompanied by Malick-tier photography from Roger Deakins and heartbreaking score from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
I imagine the music would be pretty fitting in Microsoft's board room at the moment...
i own the movie but i still haven't watched it for some reason.
also, yeah, the soundtrack is incredible.
This past weekend I finished watching the first season of Magic City before it's second season premiere's tonight on STARZ. Not bad sorta of reminds me a big of like a cross between the movie Casino and the Sopranos (except obviously not as good). Takes place in 1950's Miami at the time of the Cuban Revolution. Basically an hotel owner makes a deal with a mobster that he is now regretting and is looking to get out off (guessing what the second season will mostly focus on), while different issues after his family and hotel. First season was only 8 episodes started a bit slow but really picked up after the first 3 episodes. Not a series filled with too much action but worth checking out. Can't wait to see where the second season goes and hopefully it's a couple episodes longer.
Magic City is an OK show. It has moments that are beautiful and it's got a nice look. I like Jeffery Dean Morgan, Danny Huston, and Olga Kurylenko. Plus, it's got some nice nude stuff. It's just that some of the stories are bad and some of the acting is terrible. Steven Strait is a terrible actor. I hope the 2nd season is better as I do love to watch James Caan and Sherilyn Fenn.
Rewatching the first season of The Shield. I was only going to watch a little bit (I still plan on buying the DVDs at some point and wanted to save my second run-through for those) but it's on Hulu right now and I just got sucked in. I have to say, the first season is pretty rough around the edges (more than I remember) but I just finished episode ten and it is finally starting to show hints at how powerful this show eventually becomes. The hard part will be stopping myself from jumping into the second season after this (going to wait for the DVDs for the rest after season one).
watched "In The Mouth Of Madness" and started "Psycho 2" with Rifftrax.
loving john carpenter more with every film of his i watch.
how did psycho 2 ever get made? the riffing is amazing but, my goodness, what a shitty piece of film.
Watch "The Thing" with commentary track from Carpenter and Kurt Russell, it's AWESOME.
i'll probably have to watch that on my own as it's quite...gross, and my fiancee doesn't like gore at all.
but, yeah, i've heard the commentary track is fantastic. guess that means i actually have to find a DVD instead of watching it on netflix. too bad they don't offer alternate audio tracks (besides occasional different languages).
The wire....

^^Did you just start watching it?
Season 1 episode 1. Wiki said that Dominic West does a great job with an American accent. I disagree. I can hear Yorkshire FFS. There are so many Brits and Aussies on American Television right now, I'm surprised the Conservatives around here aren't trying to round them up and deport them. Oh, they only do that to poor Latinos taking our jobs. But actors covering their accents to sound American, on American TV isn't ? (Now is when y'all should be noting my sarcasm).
Lead character in Longmire, excellent American accent- I had no idea he was from OZ. The black CIA director on Homeland, a Brit - great accent. Naomi Watts as Valerie Plame in Fair Game, descent job with the accent. Heck, Jonathan Rhys-Myers did something I can't remember- good American accent.
Am I being too persnickety? Yeah, I am. :/. Do dozens of Americans put on accents in films? yes they do. What kind of job do they do? I actually would love to know.
War of the Roses - this movie is still shinning, and a nice cameo from Homer Simpson
King of the Hill - Still a hilarious show. There was a reference to TPS Reports in the episode I watched.
After much swooning by one of my coworkers, I gave Supernatural a try. Turned out to be a bad idea: I'm starting season 4 as we speak... Kind of unhealthily addictive.
