Something Wicked This Way Comes is one of my favorite books to re-read so finding out these people were real is just one more layer to the stories.

My 13 year old son started his first job today: landscaping! He was looking forward to detasseling corn, but with that prospect being up in the air, he wanted to go with something where he could "make money longer".

    Proud, not gonna lie.

when i was 14 i wanted to be a landscape architect. which is weird because i hate grass (i think it's pointless; everyone should use ground cover).
anyway, that's awesome! good job for not really having to be near people right now, too.
also, i had no idea you had kids!

    9, 13, and... 23. And no, I didn't have a kid at 12.

Speaking of hating grass: my father's partner is Japanese-Hawaiian. He talks all the time about tearing up the grass and replacing it with lava rock.

a house near me - and I'm in the PNW - just did that. it looks really nice, to be fair.

as for laughing, I thought this was funny for some reason.

Turf is cheap. That’s why it’s used so much.

Cheers me up: Because landscapers and arborists are still working, we’ve had several meetings and are putting together plans for some new evergreens trees in back, plus mulch and raising an eroded area in the back. We had to have a dead hawthorn removed in front (sad but it was dead) then the stump ground, now we are deciding on hydrangea which my husband will plant.

It’s spring but not really spring, stuff is open but not really open. But planning and getting this stuff done helps to make it feel like spring. In between this, I sew masks. Sewing is oddly therapeutic.

Tomorrow I have two friends that are coming over. We're going to sit 12 ft away from each other on the back patio and catch up.

Today's Google Doodle Kids' Coding Game.

I only managed to get the shortest path ONCE, gah, but I completed all of them. Still, lots of fun.

My new mattress is a fucking gamechanger. I hadn't had one in my many years (thankfully, I've somehow avoided back issues) but these last 2 nights have been the best sleep of recent years, bar whenever I'd be sleeping in one of the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas' beds.

I had a sudden fleeting memory, today, out of nowhere, of a very famous ETS member from like 15 years ago, Saturnine, noting that “The Perfect Drug” would make a great Gap commercial.

    (Cue dancers and singers)

    We have the perfect PANTS
    The perfect TOPS
    The perfect BELTS

    This cheered me up

a bunch of folks from here bought my covers EP to help me raise some money for charity. i ended up raising over $180 (which isn't a lot in the big picture, but for a DIY covers album? that's pretty good!)

    thanks, y'all

Her original login was “silktwisteddagger.” You remember that guy who was like 70 years old? Yashamscaram or something? He was like an ex-Navy Seal or something. Sometimes my autocorrect on my iPhone types “Blacklightfreakout.” Lol it just did it.

I can't believe I've been visiting this board, on and off, for two decades. Despite occasionally having to fight the urge to track someone down just to pee on their shoes, it's a lovely place.
Those two are mainly on Twitter these days. I do get nostalgic for when all my Internet socialising was done on this board - and all the shitposting was done in the Shitlist and not a slow evolution of relatives you have to disown

Fuck that dude with a cactus dipped in habenero. Everyone refusing to follow rules set forth should be cited for reckless endangerment. But this is the cheery thread, so...

Blueberry Cheerios are amazing and will be a staple in my household for the foreseeable future.
