Trent 100% did lurk and post here back in the day. Whether or not he still does, either under another name, or just lurks, or comes in once every few months to read a post or two then leaves, who knows.
I love that goatse avatar.
I miss teitan so much
What is the most complete and highest quality pro audio from the Tension preview (Nov 8th 2013), the Austin City Limits performance and the Jimmy Kimmel performance?
Does anyone know why Trent used an alternate vocal take (unique to the halo) on The Day The World Went Away? Why use that version on the single and a different take on The Fragile?
^^
Just to fuck with us
TDTWWA came out toward the end of the process of making the thing (came out in July, record came out in September), so TR probably decided sometime after he sent it out to the record company that he didn't like that vocal take anymore and wanted to re-do it for the record. Or it was never intended to be the final vocal and he had no choice but to include it on the single because of time constraints. Or he couldn't decide which he liked better so he included one take in one place and the other take in another.
I've never seen him comment on it, so, who knows.
Anyone know the backstory on this? Wasn't there a bit of back and forth about the Perfect Drug music video?
I feel like the only song on Still from that score has to be Gone, Still.
The Others are probably leftovers from The Fragile sessions and live acoustic versions.
Does anyone know why Trent said "that's the last fucking time we play that song" about With Teeth at this gig:
http://www.nin.wiki/2007/02/26_Manchester,_UK
indeed, it never has been played since.
^^
Some roadies messed up while bringing TR's piano on stage for the quiet middle part and TR couldn't find it in the dark or something like that.
I've been listening to the 5.1 mix, specifically the Dual Disc, of The Downward Spiral and I noticed that Big Man With A Gun sounds completely off and different from the rest of the songs on the album.
Is BMWAG a different mix for this release?
If so why?
or am I just imagining things (confirmation bias)?
You're definitely not the first one to bring it up so this is probably right. (I don't own surround version nor have a 5.1 setup to check by myself).
There's no official explanation, but the common consensus is that some of the song's master tapes were lost and some things had to be rerecorded for the reissue. That's why there was also no instrumental version of it posted on remix.nin.com back in the day.

That makes the most sense I guess. I wonder what the story is with master recordings going missing from Interscope Records.
Are there any explanations from the people involved with TDS or other staff from Interscope as to why the masters "went missing"?
I'm probably reaching here but to me it sounds like someone who disliked or involved with the whole controversy concerning BMWAG and the ACSS songs, snuck in and destroyed and/or stole the master recordings.
What other possible explanation could there be?
On second thought, maybe the master recordings were not stored properly and, became damaged and degraded over time.
Maybe instead of spending a large amount of money restoring it, Trent just rerecorded it to match the original as closely as possible.
Going off what you told me, that means the only way to hear BMWAG unaltered is to listen to the original pressing from 1994.
My questions now are:
Is the original Red Book pressing of TDS on CD/Vinyl/Cassette the only way to hear the original song as it was released?
Does that Album master from 1994 still exist in an unaltered format?
And, is the stereo mixes also altered for the reissue/remaster that came out in 2004?

Probably the wrong thread to ask, but does anyone know if there is a HQ version of "Now, I'm Nothing" floating around the interwebs?
Definitely, the original Lolla version is what I'm after. While it was kind of cool to resurrect it for NIN/JA, I'm not much of a fan of that version.
I thought it was really cool that they brought that back since it is kind of a fan favorite sort of "lost track." However, it really did not work. I feel like it just can't work with post-fragile nin. It really needs to be angry Trent rolling around on the stage covered in corn starch... just my opinion. One of those things that looks great on paper, but just can't be executed properly these days. Now, if they had done Maybe Just Once...
I can't remember the name of the drum machine Trent used for Only and Fur-Lined? What was it?
What's the easiest way (on NINwiki or otherwise) to have a comprehensive list of the unreleased tracks from The Fragile Apple Music release, etc.? I can't believe I missed these ones like "Can I Stay Here?"...
There's only a few tracks to know about:
