We're too early in this crisis for approval to mean anything. That number will sink in the coming weeks once this gets real for the majority of the country.

UK update. Word on the street is Schools will not re-open until September at the worst (basically wright off the end of this term?) and London will go into Lockdown over the next few days (Officials are really angry that people in London are still working and socialising. As someone that is still working i agree, but it's their fault for thinking people would just follow their "advice")

How's it not real yet though? Everything's shut down and there's lines out the door for toilet paper. The writing is so clearly on the wall that this is going to get worse

Orange man said everyone gets free checks. That's all people need to hear to support him.

"Only" a couple hundred people have died here. We watched a guy shoot up hundreds of people at a festival and have spent all our breath since then defending guns. As a nation, we're kind of dumb.

Being real and the perception of real are two different things. California shut down only yesterday...NY about an hour ago. Fox News is just now starting to take this seriously. Florida beaches are still full while West Virginia hasn't done shit. It's no coincidence those areas are Trump Country. I'm in NYC metro...I know this is real...you're in LA and obviously know it's real. But the average Trump voter in Whereverthefuck, BFE still dining out at Cracker Barrel hasn't seen it yet. They will.

I'll be honest, I don't have a problem with a member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, dumping stocks so long as they were out there being vocal about the impending crisis. But if you are carrying Trump's water and covering up publicly while cashing in privately...fire up the guillotines.

Has it been posted yet that it's apparently moved to dogs, now? First dog in Hong Kong has died, another has popped up. We still don't know everything. Fuck.

If you were part of a meeting full of insider information and then you went and dumped stocks afterwards, I have a problem with it.

she's (Loefner) saying now that her stocks are in a blind trust and she doesn't know what the people responsible are doing. Sure, it's all a massive fucking convenient timing, right?

Scapegoats. All of them. You can't tell me Trump and his family don't have their hands in the cookie jar as well.

New York goes into indefinite mandatory lock-down starting Sunday night. You can go outside to get groceries and to the pharmacy while they remain open, and you can go out to exercise alone. And that's it.

They are considering taking over SUNY and CUNY schools to serve as temporary hospital space - 18% of people diagnosed in NYC have required hospitalization. Much higher than the average.

Cuomo should be put in charge of the national response. What I typically dislike about him makes him the exact type of leader you need in a time of absolute crisis, and he has handled this remarkably well.

Hah! Yes, this is perfect and describes the exact way I am feeling right now. I look forward to his daily press conferences and updates. He talks in facts and numbers, calmly and rationally while still emphasizing how serious this is.

I also think the Mayor is handling everything pretty well, too.

In the meantime, Mr. Cuomo’s aides say they’ve been taken aback by a new phenomenon. For years, any attempt by Mr. Cuomo to dip his toe into social media has been met with mockery, most of it suggesting that he FIX THE SUBWAYS. Now, the reaction to him is as appreciative as New York City Twitter gets, with even skeptics impressed.

Do you have a source for this? I know the rumor has been going around social media. This article about Illinois mentions Andrew Cuomo dismissed the rumor:

Pritzker to issue lockdown order requiring residents ‘shelter in place’ starting Saturday, sources say

    Looks like we're #2? Yay?

The state of New York has told all nonessential businesses to stop work outside of homes, adding to drastic steps taken in various parts of the U.S. to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The press conference he did this morning. I was watching it live from his facebook page. I believe you can still go back and watch it, though.

    Here is a link, too.

Supercut: side-by-side, dated clips of various Fox News hosts pivoting from "Democratic hoax" to "end of the world" in roughly one week.

I think we've gotten to the point where Trump knows what has to be done (total shutdown, coast to coast, for at least 30 days) but is unwilling to do it fearing market and voter backlash. So he's intent on sitting on his hands waiting for governors to make the decisions for him.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...s-latest-news/

    Specifically:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered all workers in his state to stay home, except for those in essential services. The move came after California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered 40 million residents to remain at home. The dramatic measures came after confirmed U.S. cases doubled in just two days, in part because of increased testing. “I applaud them, they’re taking very strong, bold steps,” President Trump said.

Okay, thank you. They're still updating the Illinois story, so I'll forward the info along about NYC.

Not so sure about that. Haven't really seen any credible info that dogs are dying from this.
