In a strange turn of events the splatter variant of the record is delayed a week. Not shipping until 09/18.
Most of it is now out there, missing the last two tracks; just landed. See certain Reddit circles.
Listening now. Red Black and Blue is infinitely better than anything off Heaven Upside Down.
It's a vinyl rip, skips every now and then, but what the fuck, I'm impatient lol

Leak !
It's on mm reddit under one of the vinyl posts a few hours ago. The one with all the comments anyone listened? I wanna hear some yall ets reviews
If it's an incomplete vinyl rip that skips occasionally, I'll just be patient. My hopes aren't too high, but I'll at least give it a fair chance. Some guy on the Reddit thread containing the now-defunct Dropbox link claimed it's the "best since Holy Wood!" LOL
I don't know about all that. The current vinyl rip is a bit crap, but i skimmed a few songs and got the gist of it. It's not as bad as HUD, i'll say that. His voice hasn't improved any though. His cords are essentially shot, probably permanently, and that's a big drag on this one.
Can someone PM a link? I’m not at home yet
Can someone shoot me a link?
Edit: Nvm. Got it. Now listening.
"Red, Black and Blue" opens with a "Cake and Sodomy"/"Overneath The Path Of Mystery"-style tribal drumbeat. "Set fire to the tree of life". Pretty Sisters of Mercy sounding. Not bad at all. Reminds me heavily of the harder points of Born Villain with better production - not necessarily a bad thing. By the title I was expecting this to be political, but it sounds like a relationship song.
"Don't Chase The Dead" has an almost "Mr. Superstar"-esque opening, before... segueing into maybe the best keyboard lick since Mechanical Animals. This is really, really catchy, in a Smashing Pumpkins kinda way. Should probably have been the lead single. I can see the Diamond Dogs influence pretty clear. "If tonight lasts forever/It won't matter if there's no tomorrow".
"Paint You With My Love" sounds like an improved version of "Unkillable Monster" from The High End Of Low. I despised that song, so I'm not predisposed to enjoy this. It's basically a big Meatloaf ballad. Not a fan, but I think people who enjoyed THEOL are going to like this one a lot.
"Halfway & One-Step Forward" opens with Coldplay pianos and a Nick Jonas(!) reference. Very pleasant. Manson's voice fits this kind of thing very well - a not-quite-triphop drumbeat accompanied by pianos throughout. The Manson Reddit has compared it to Timberlake's "What Comes Around Goes Around", and yeah, but this is significantly better.
"Infinite Darkness" is an Antichrist Superstar throwback, or at least a throwback to the nu-metal period, and it works pretty well. "Soldier, die soon/don't get in the way/you're not the hero"? Solid music; too brief to be all that meaningful though.
"Perfume" absolutely rules. It reminds me a lot of Candyass-era Orgy; it has that bass-driven crunch to it. "If you conjure the devil/You better make sure/You got a bed for him to sleep in". This is rock-solid. "Am I Superman?/Am I superstition?" Holy shit, this is godly. Strippers will dance to this.
"Keep My Head Together' continues the industrial rock/nu-metal theme (at this point I'm genuinely surprised by how few of these tracks are ballads; I expected basically the entire album to be done in a hard country style, and there's virtually none of that to be found on this). "I fucking love you/I love fucking you/I eat glass/And I shit diamonds". Alright. Not as great as the last track, but there's nothing objectionable here.
The leaked version I got doesn't have the last two tracks.
Other than "Paint You With My Love", which I think a lot of fans of THEOL-era Manson are going to like, this is really good. I don't know how I'd compare it yet to the last few records - it sounds less repetitive to me than Heaven Upside Down, though there's nothing quite as striking as "Saturnalia" on here. The choice of "We Are Chaos" for lead single and title track is baffling - other than PYWML it's the weakest thing on here so far, by a wide margin. I am glad Manson kept the balladry to a minimum this time. There's nothing as forced-heavy as "Murderers Are Getting Prettier Every Day" or "Revelation #12"; the ACSS-throwbacks like "Infinite Darkness" and "Perfume" draw more on the industrial, sinister side of that record.
This is really good. My favorite track by a pretty wide margin is "Perfume", but I suspect the balladry shit is going to be most popular. "We Are Chaos" was absolutely not the right lead-off single - shoulda been "Don't Chase The Dead", followed up with "Perfume".

I skimmed it, I’m personally getting born villain vibes. It’s not as good as the title track but its not embarrassing which is good.
Could anyone please PM me a link? I've searched but can't find the real deal.
Hate to beg, but could some one link me too?
I am inclined to say this is the best thing since Eat Me, Drink Me.
Wow this is way better than anything since Holywood
Would love a PM
Cool for early "reviews" but I'll just sit for my Loma Vista store download link on the release date.
Did the full thing get uploaded yet or is everyone talking about the version missing the last 2 tracks?
Maybe I'll wait then... please PM if it happens. I'm kind of... excited?
Reddit found this.
I'm really, really fucking loving Half-Way & One Step Forward. Someone's been listening to Leonard Cohen, heh
I don't want to start ranking albums or saying "best since" (aside from that this whole thing is LEAGUES ahead of Heaven Upside Down), but...I'm not embarrassed to be listening to this. The hard rockers don't feel forced. I'm not detecting anything in the way of macho bullshit.
I'm liking this a lot. Can't wait for proper quality.
The full version has leaked.
My attempt to transcribe the lyrics to "Perfume". Some of this is probably wrong.
"Get behind me
Get behind me
Get behind me
Satan
(x2)
So you wear your damage on your sleeve
But don't worry; it's always tongue and cheek, yeah
You're not a victim of fashionable fashions that bow
'Cause victim is chic
You're as famous as your pain
'Cause victim is chic
If you conjure the devil
You better make sure
You gotta bed for him to sleep in
(2x)
Buckshot glitter perfume
Something you never want to wear
In your hair
In your brains
This shit won't be the same
Get behind me
Get behind me
Get behind me
Satan
(Shit won't be the same)
If you conjure the devil
You better make sure
You gotta bed for him to sleep
(2x)
Get behind me
Get behind me
Get behind me
Satan
Am I Superman?
Am I superstition?
(4x)
Get behind me
Get behind me
Get behind me
Satan"
And I think this is "Halfway And One-Step Forward":
"The smell of your blood
Is like a carnival in a State fair
Skin is cotton candy
Too easy to melt
And I don't wanna know
Don't need to know
You got champagne problems
(2x)
I need a raincoat for tomorrow
(2x)
This is about how much you can cry when you die
It's not about the storm of tears
That you make when you're alive
Halfway and one-step forward
That's the point of no return
(2x)
Ring all the bells you can ring
There's a crack in everything
(The next line is unintelligible to me)
(2x)
I don't want to know
Don't need to know
You got champagne problems
(2x)
Halfway and one-step forward
That's the point of no return
(4x)
Don't want to know
Don't need to know
You got champagne problems"
Interesting throwback to "Sweet Tooth" there, from Portrait.

This is good, upon first listen I'd say it's definitely more mature sounding, up there with TPE maybe? Time will tell, let's hope he gets his live show sorted out, some of the tracks would be killer live.
Really enjoyed every track upon first listen. Hoping this holds up over time because right now I'm really happy with it. Need to give it a few days before I can rank it
All of these positive thoughts are freaking me out hahaha. Uploading to my itunes library now...
