They probably banked on the movie of The Dirt being a huge hit and the soundtrack selling enough to keep them happy. Or they were playing the long con with their fans and planned this all along.

Dates are out. Too lazy to copy and paste them since I'm out and about on a cell. But here's the link:

Nothing in Canada of course. Motley, poison, def leopard and Joan jett. Pretty stacked lineup. I would have went to this if it came to town.
John 5 will be replacing Mick Mars on next year's tour.
Looking at the press release, I'm not sure if John 5 is an official member of the group.
sounds like Mick is still a member whatever that means just won't be touring. better for Mick's health to get off the road. they got a nice payday this year. too bad they're not getting a new singer, too.
I don’t really care about Motley Crue, but I like John 5 and since he’s now in the middle of this mess, it’s a little fascinating to follow the drama here. On the face of it, it seems like Mick is the one being unreasonable, though if you look at any story about it on Facebook, everyone is on “Team Mick”. I don’t understand how a band as a business entity works, but I understand basic math. Mick claims he turned down the bands offer of 5% of tour revenue (and later 7.5%) because he wants his full 25%. That would mean the rest of the band would have to take a pay cut in order for John 5 to be paid anything. Which means they would be getting paid less than the guy who isn’t even playing on the tour. Now sure how that works or is reasonable at all.

So Crue performed last night at the NFL Draft which is taking place a few blocks from my apartment. It was uhh... quite something hearing Vince Neil's horrendously off key/off pitch/out of breath vocals bouncing off all the buildings in the city, followed by Tommy yelling "Motherfuckers" every other word. John 5 sounded fucking great tho, so there's that I guess.
The band is working on new music with John 5 and Bob Rock.
I'm curious to hear what they come up with. Their last good album was New Tattoo (2000). Saints of Los Angeles (2008) and the other stray songs from compilations have been forgettable.
Sounds like early 00s-ish.
I'm not really a fan of Crue, but I find John 5 to be a cool guy. I was hoping that with him writing, it would bring something interesting to the band, but this sounds like generic 2000's nu-metal or something.
The song is objectively bad, but yet I still found myself grinning and nodding along to it. Why on earth MC decided the Nu-Metal revival was where to put all their chips, is beyond me, but I got some dumb entertainment out of it for a couple of minutes on my drive to work.
Yikes. I felt like I went back in time for a few minutes. Not like when you listen to an old song, but when you hear a sound that just reminds you of a certain time, and that took me instantly back to generic 2000’s rock.
Oof. That was bad. The epitome of butt rock.
Truthfullly, the only thing I ever liked from them was Generation Swine and that's because it holds a nostalgic memory to me for being in junior high in 2000 and liking anything that felt like it was mimicking a NIN sound.
Mick Mars was the soul behind Motley Crue. As much as John 5 is an awesome dude and killer player, his writing is generic and he's never going to have that signature sound that is what the Motley Crue fans want to hear.
