Isn't it typically someone who was inspired by the act being inducted - not a peer or someone who came before them?

It's gone either way. I don't think the process has ever been quite clear, but I assume the Hall is in charge of finding people to induct as opposed to the inductee personally asking people. David Byrne was asked to induct Radiohead which I guess was kind of fitting being that they got their name from him. But yeah, it could just as easily be Billie Eilish inducting Trent as it could be any of the other names mentioned here. Then there's Dire Straits who had to induct themselves a few years ago, even. Doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it.
To be honest, i dont think we'll get more than Triple H for the performance.

I’m predicting either Josh Freese or Dave Grohl on drums and could see Peter Murphy or Gary Numan to induct, but the latter is the Rock Hall’s choice, not Trent’s. Maybe Josh Homme.
Not sure if this was shared, for you collectors.....

I can't see them playing 'Closer' in that setting....'Hurt' also does not fit that setting AT ALL....I am guessing HLAH, THTF, MOTP or Reptile, Wish and something from Fragile...Somewhat Damaged or TDTWWA........
I honestly think it’ll be only deep cuts like the songs that make you go “whoa” during cold black & infinite or wave goodbye
I'll eat my shoe if they don't play Hurt.
I don't care what they play as long as it isn't Old Town Road. Not even in jest.
How about Jack White to induct, if Grohl is busy drumming?
Just a thought I had. I'm sometimes weird like that. I blame old age.
Screw it! Booked a hotel! I can cancel it if needed, but it’s secured! I’m going to try and get tickets to this event. 2020 might be a crazy year for me (just put a deposit on an engagement ring, ah!), and the timing of this would work out, as I might not be able to make any later potential tour dates with a lingering wedding schedule to plan out.
Dark horse: Bill Pulsipher to induct.
:O
Ohhhhhhhhhhh!!!...
I'd enjoy watching Saul Williams do a 5 minute slam poetry induction.
1 good thing for those who can't go: HBO is broadcasting live rather than later. last year the Cure played the following:
- Shake Dog Shake
Play Video- A Forest
Play Video- Lovesong
Play Video- Just Like Heaven
Play Video- Boys Don't Cry
magically, by the time they showed the ceremony "a forest" got dropped from the broadcast. luckily, i got a copy of the whole thing that i think was from a satellite feed. good thing too because "a forest" was killer! let's hope nothing like that happens with NIN!

Another pointless poll, but LOL at manson in the lead.
My guess is Terrible Lie, Hand That Feeds, Head Like a Hole, Hurt. Maybe The Wretched as a dark horse of some kind.
"Head Like a Hole" and "Hurt" are essential. In between: hopefully "Dead Souls", but what about something newer? "Less Than" would be great to hear with Sharlotte and Lisa.
The Great Destroyer or gtfo
I know WITT is hard to sing, but I wish Trent would try it for this special occasion.
BTW is there any policy regarding explicit lyrics at HOF performances?
