The Kim Potter trial starting live
Derek Chauvin changes his plea to guilty in Federal case
https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/der...lea/index.html
Is anyone else watching the Kim Potter trial? This is a total shitshow, I'm afraid she's going to be found not guilty :-(
Jury begins to decide on verdict now for Kim Potter trial. Hopefully with the holidays coming up, it won't rush them to make a decision.
They also said, in order to prepare for the outcome of the verdict, the schools have started their Christmas holiday closure starting today.
Yeah, the fake crying didn't help and she had a bit of an attitude too. I get it she's exhausted from the whole thing, but at least fake it.
Kim Potter "trial outcome" to be announced soon. I haven't really been following this trial but I can't really understand how a veteran training officer could mistake her gun for a taser. The term "trial outcome" seems...curious.
EDIT: GUILTY on both counts

An update: the chief is gone, hopefully the mayor is next.
edit since I'm not on my phone now:
that really sounds like a threat which in today's world means fuck all because no one cares enough to push back.In the wake of last week’s story, public officials, including Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, sought investigations by the Department of Justice, the Alabama Attorney General, as well as audits and investigations from other Alabama entities.
Jones responded personally to some people who shared the AL.com story on social media.
“I strongly suggest you take the time to research the truth of the story before posting comments,” he messaged on Facebook to Senate candidate Lisa Ward after she shared a link to the story.
“Especially if you expect to run for public office on the State of Alabama. I am the Chief of Police of this department. I am a highly awarded and decorated 27 year State of Alabama law enforcement veteran choosing to continue serving in public office. I also serve on the AACOP executive board of Directors as the Emergency Response Committee Chairman with the Alabama Association of Chief’s of Police as well as the International Association of Chiefs of Police, & FBI LEEDA.”

I don’t know if this has been mentioned or posted before, sorry if it has, plus I don’t know this can be allowed here considering the topic is about police brutality, but still relates to racial inequality.
Over here in Texas our government is banning books in schools based on racial inequality (CRT), which they have been doing for a while now. Thankfully, people are rightfully protesting about it. https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/re...-ban-rcna13617
Considering how the government has already banned critical race theory and abortion: https://imgur.com/a/nGmyHFG
Dammit, Minneapolis Police!
Minneapolis Police kill a man while serving a no-knock warrant
Amir Locke was a Doordash driver who had no criminal record and legally owned a handgun for personal protection due to his job. He was sleeping at a friend's apartment when a SWAT team came in and shot him before he could fully comprehend what was happening.
Minneapolis was supposed to have a ban on no-knock warrants but MPD has served dozens in the last 2 years. In this case, it was a search warrant requested by the St. Paul Police Department (SPPD), which has not done no-knock warrants in 5 years. SPPD did not want this one to be a no-knock but MPD got a judge to approve one for this case.
The bodycam footage shows Amir asleep on the couch under a blanket. He wakes up after a cop kicks the couch and reacts as one would expect in this situation: he reaches for his gun but has it aimed away and his finger is not on the trigger. The cops get trigger-happy and open fire. Even gun-rights advocates are in shock about this because here was someone doing exactly what he should do if he feels he is in danger. Likewise, he had no time to process what happened before being shot.
Not only does the officer who shot him need to be held accountable, but so too should the MPD officials who sought the no-knock warrant and the judge who signed off on it.
(In my opinion, the only times a no-knock warrant should be approved is if someone's life is in imminent danger.)

Yep, that made me nauseous. These fucking shitty judges…
Let's see what the jury says about this:
"Jury Is Now Deliberating in the Civil Rights Case of 3-Ex Officers Connected to George Floyd's Killing"
https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/23/us/ge...day/index.html
"All three ex-officers testified on their own behalf during the trial, a stark contrast from Chauvin's silence during his state murder trial last year. Their defenses have offered several reasons to try to explain why they didn't intervene or render aid, saying they were inexperienced, received inconsistent training and deferred to Chauvin's seniority.
"I think I would trust a 19-year veteran to figure it out," Thao said on the stand, referring to Chauvin."
All officers were found guilty.
