Very sad news, knew he had problems but still a shock. Apparently was due to marry Lea Michele in two weeks.

Totally. I love that guy. He can play a blow-hard as well as a nice guy. One of the great character actors ever.

Grr fed up with Royal Baby news already and it's only been a few hours, so glad I am not at work this week or I would have to trawl through all the fawning articles.

Agreed. The last century's had a surfeit of Georges and Edwards. I liked that Charles and Diana dipped a bit deeper into the history books for their kids.

    RIP Lee Thompson Young

People nowadays might know him from Rizzoli & Isles, but he'll always be The Famous Jett Jackson to me:

    This <<<<<<<

It's obvious she's a talented singer, but to me not much else. She had a few cool hits early on but she's always struck me as strictly middle-of-the-road. After reading that article it's clear the kind of fake I'm referring to is a much more destructive kind.

Lou Reed RIP. Sad that the last thing he'll probably be remembered for is some of the worst music ever recorded. Thanks Metallica.

The last thing Lou Reed will be remembered for is being a visionary genius. Lulu may have been the most misguided and awful album of the past decade or so, but you have to make something a lot worse than that to trump Berlin, Transformer, or anything from the Velvet Underground.

If anything, maybe people will start pretending to like Lulu, the way people suddenly started appreciating that last Michael Jackson album.

Either way, I'm sad, so I'm going to go listen to Berlin. Always a good plan.

RIP .. Lou Reed, you were the enbodyment of the New York music scene, there would have been no Mudclub, CBGB's, Talking Heads, Ramones, Iggy Pop, a list to long to post. You took the London punk, rolled it in the grit and grime of NY, and came out with magic. Time for a little Satellite of Love, Sweet Jane, Heroin, even Walk on the Wildside. Godspeed Lou.. I sure you'll have a great time with Jimi, Stevie and all the rest. Thank you Mr Reed

Lou's wife, Laurie Anderson, said recently that Lou didn't have very long to live, he was near death before he had the liver transplant but was then seemingly improving. RIP, Lou.

Well, not to nitpick but the Stooges were from Ann Arbor and weren't a part of the NY scene. :-) The Velvets were related to the old Andy Warhol scene while CBGB was the opposite of that. Max's was more Warhol.

It's hard to believe he is gone. I wonder if the liver transplant was related to hepatitis from his previous heroin use?

His influence was so immense. I cant imagine what it must have been like to hear a song like Heroin in 1967 . Legend
