Doesn't seem like it's happening... Most (the ones i've backed) usually release it a little early for the backers. Think they might have done that for the last album. Hopefully midnight.

    FAILURE - reunion in 2014

These guys can do no wrong. Short and sweet, but solid. The opening track sounds like NIN’s Demon Seed having sex with Autolux. It doesn’t really sound like anything in the Failure canon, but it’s badass.

“Paralytic Flow” and “Pennies” are classic Failure, and would have sounded right at home on THIAM.

Segue 10 makes me want to hear track 1 of EP 2.

    Delicious.

Yeah, they really can't do any wrong. Dark Speed is a very interesting one. Not sure if I'm listening a failure song, an autolux song or a Beck song. Onward it's the Failure we all know love. Bummed on how short it is. But, it gives me something to look forward to. Can't wait to see what they do with EP 2.

I ordered from their site, doesn't seem like the link works yet. Just gives me the artwork. Fuck.

Man... Paralytic Flow has some pretty raw lyrics there... Dark Speed is pretty clearly a pop-ier Greg song for sure... loved Pennies and great to hear a final version!

I can't really make them out. Which ones specifically strike you as raw?

well... i should rephrase that, Ken's singing on the song hit me real hard... that "I want you so bad..." the lyrics to me sound like you lose yourself sometimes...

"Pennies" has been a favorite of mine for a long time but the new version made me positively giddy. It's stunning. And they kept the guitar solo note-for-note! God, I fucking love this band.

Bonus: their new music video is directed by Ken (who, lest we forget, went to school for film not music) and stars one of my fav character actors, David Dasatmalchian(!)

Seems to me the EP/video talk about their past addictions.

Shocker, they knock it out of the park again. Really good. Is Greg playing guitar on pretty much everything this album so far? Certainly seems like it. Not a bad thing, just weird.

This EP is fucking gold. That lead guitar riff on Solar Eyes is juicy!!! Great arrangements, great melodies, etc. These guys are the real deal. Here's to hoping for a NIN/APC/Failure tour in 2019.

Greg played guitar on everything but houses and mulholland drive on THIAM. on these releases, I think he’s on bass for dark speed and pennies.

I think it was inevitable he’d take a bigger lead on guitar. He’s really become an amazing and unique guitar player. I learned to play bass because of him, but man you can immediately tell it’s him on guitars now a days.

Really? I always kind of figured THIAM was almost 50/50. Greg has definitely gotten a lot more distinguished as a guitarist. His time in Autolux has really done wonders. Or maybe I was wrong about everything he's done prior.

I'm really trying to hold out until EP #4 is released, making the next LP complete, but it's fucking hard. Arrrgh.

At the rate they're going, might not be so bad. I couldn't do it though. I kind of like the whole episodic album thing.

I think there really is "too much of a good thing". I don't think I'd want to see all three bands in one night - it would either be sets that are too short and leaving me wanting more of one of them, or 90-120 minutes each, turning into a freaking long concert.

Failure + NIN would be a great pairing. I feel like Failure + APC might be a little too similar for my taste.
