What I take from this is that gun owners don't really care about a gun registry as long as it's not the government who has one.

Most people concerned with privacy are much more OK with private companies having data instead of government because it usually involves some level of freedom to participate or not. But yea, there are many gun people who refuse to support the NRA because of their list. There are a lot of progun groups that are much better than the NRA. They are just the guys with all the money, so I'm happy they are helping the ACLU on this.

It shows the rapid grounding of air traffic across the US, and redirection of incoming international traffic, in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Time is at lower left, number of planes in the air lower right. At 9:06am, FAA issued a ground stop to all traffic not yet departed that would encounter NY airspace ["tier one"- NY, DC, Boston, Cleveland] . A series of rapid decisions followed, including redirecting inbound traffic away from NY and warning airplanes in the air of potential cockpit intrusion. At 9:45am, FAA Command Center decided to close all US airspace for the first time in history. Within a few hours, all commercial air traffic was grounded. The town's always been acutely aware of the 100 year flood potential, but it's weird to see it actually roll in.
And as great as social media is for getting information out to people quickly, The fact that there was no helicopter footage of the major flood area all day is a great example of where the new model of reporting fails us. Yeah we got a bunch of immediate pictures of drunk kids playing in the flood waters last night. But we got nothing from the most vulnerable and severe area. Twitter is great for spur of the moment pics and insight, but in the case of big disasters, someone still needs to be able to pay for the helicopter that gets the important shots.
