MSNBC is praising Rand Paul for leading in the discussion of race and politics above what even Democrats have done.

This is a good curation from various Military vets on how stupid the whole situation is on behalf of Ferguson PD.

I love everything about that one.

The responses from politicians (or non responses) has made me really pissed off. I'm not a fan of this dude, but he is the only one that seems to actually get it:

    http://time.com/3111474/rand-paul-ferguson-police/

"Given these developments, it is almost impossible for many Americans not to feel like their government is targeting them. Given the racial disparities in our criminal justice system, it is impossible for African-Americans not to feel like their government is particularly targeting them."

"The militarization of our law enforcement is due to an unprecedented expansion of government power in this realm. It is one thing for federal officials to work in conjunction with local authorities to reduce or solve crime. It is quite another for them to subsidize it."

Once again, The War on Drugs and the War on Terror are the root of some major problems. Once again, the politicians everyone proudly elected will do jack shit about it because it would cut influential people off from $$$

The apparent beheading of a journalist is sort of freaking me out. I'm afraid what the US reaction is going to be or not be.

I wanted to post this in the Ferguson thread but since it's not related to the city but more the issues people have with cops, I figured I'd post it here.

Long story short. A 911 call made about a car with 4 black males (including one waving a gun). Caller identifies the car as a tan or beige Toyota.
What do the cops do? Pulled at gunpoint a mom with 4 kids in a red burgundy Nissan.

That right there is fine police work...

"I ran your plate" ... total fucking bullshit.

Jesus Christ, those poor kids. Ugh. At least the officers tried to calm those kids down, omg. "Y'all got a slurpie for me?" LOL. "Y'all want a sticker? I got some stickers!"

It wasn't that long ago that LAPD was just shooting up any car that matched a vague description when they were chasing Christopher Dorner... for example.

He was only indicted. The charges seem rather flimsy. I'm no Rick Perry fan, but even some Democrats are saying this seems like just regular old election kind of stuff. Hell, our Democrat Governor of Illinois went to prison for horse-trading of a much worse nature.

Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, to go ahead with $244 million program that introduces religious chaplains to state schools and keeps secular workers out.

Our current government pretty much idolises the Tea Party Republican set. See also: http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...hristian-group

And for more depressing reading here's a glimpse into the impacts of our fucked-up-beyond-belief "border protection" policies. Policies that are supported by BOTH major parties.
    http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...d-inquiry-told

Thankfully, voting third party is actually viable here due to preferential voting. I can vote for the party I actually align with most (The Greens) and preference the slightly-lesser-of-two-evils major party (Labor, our equivalent of the Democrats) over the shittier (Liberal, our Republican equivalent) and my vote will go full value to the preferred party if my 1st choice candidate doesn't get up.

The story read as though the NAACP was aware of the actual events and STILL called for the stepping down.

No, the pastor related his version of the story to the NAACP, then the cop's dash cam related the true events.

I just read the original article the link I posted used, it makes it a lot clearer that the NAACP called for the step down before the video was released.

    I'm a butt funnel.

It's mainly Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson that cause most of it, kind of like how George W made people think all republicans spend all their extra time coloring.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are not affiliated with the ACLU or the NAACP.
