This had gotten little more than a big meh, across the board. Which is sad.

Luckily this guy puts it in a pretty good perspective.

Also I'd like to see them pull this shit somewhere not so thoroughly white bread.

So Arkansas, not content to be near the bottom of all quality of life, health, etc. polls, now has the nation's strictest abortion law. Sure it's unconstitutional but think of all the baby Americans it'll save! And to think, before the bill was amended abortion would have been illegal past the six week mark. This whole thing was a farce to begin with. While the bill was still in committee, a proponent dismissed testimony from health officials and publicly stated they were qualified in matters regarding women's health because, get this, they were married to a doctor.

Interesting. I'm temporarily working delivery right now, but as I deliver to restaurants instead of directly to consumers, to paraphrase Mr. Pink, society doesn't deem me worthy of a tip. I'd be very happy to get 10 bucks, as I regularly drop off orders worth anywhere from $50 to $2000 and don't get anything on the top.

Thank fuck, the dumbest thing ever. I mean, I get it...the U.S. is collectively the fattest bunch of fucks on the planet and their sedentary lifestyle is laughable, but one would sincerely hope there were more...pressing matters for Bloomberg to attend to.

Also, false alarm folks. It's just the Dutch cardinal pulling bong rips.

Ain't nobody gonna ever change that shit. The pope doesn't have the authority to change that shit. Maybe this one will focus on poverty and healing the wounds of victims of priest abuse and all that really important stuff.

Amen, sister. Francis the First has a lot of work ahead of him. Asking him to perform miracles on top of that is a bit too much, too soon.

Let's see how things go from here.

Based on his track record and what is known about him personally, he seems to be a much more humble individual who wants to reach the people. I just hope he's better than the last guy.

It gets even more insane when you realize that we spend about $10bil/year of our tax money to subsidize corn farming... which makes the corn syrup (along with tons of other "unhealthy" stuff)... and now we have people wanting to spend more tax money to make stuff like soda more expensive or outright ban it.

    THIS.

The soda ban proposed by Bloomberg was nothing but a show pony. If people were truly serious about changing the path of obesity in this country, corn would not be subsided and there wouldn't be food deserts.

Now for a totally heinous topic change:

I posted a link to this earlier but it got lost in the other topic. It's been front page news for several weeks here in the Chicago area.

Joliet Murders Update: Suspects had sex on top of corpses, report says.

(CBS) JOLIET, Ill. - Joshua Miner, one of the four suspects charged with killing two 22-year-old men in Joliet, Ill. on Jan. 10, allegedly admitted that he had sex with his girlfriend, Alisa Massaro, on top of the corpses, The Joliet Patch, citing police documents, reports.
Pictures: Four charged with grisly Ill. murders

The 24-year-old Miner reportedly told investigators that 18-year-old Massaro once told him that she fantasized about having sex with a dead person.

So, according to the police reports, that's how Miner got the disturbing idea to engage in sex on top of the two men they had just allegedly killed.

The Patch reports Massaro initially resisted the request. However, they then placed something -perhaps a sheet or a blanket - on top of the bodies and had sex.

Massaro and Miner, along with Adam Landerman, 19, and Bethany McKee, 18, are accused of luring Terrance Rankins and Eric Glover to Massaro's home, then robbing and killing both victims, CBS Chicago reports. The suspects also allegedly tried to dismember Rankins' and Glover's bodies and then continued to party together, according to the station.

CBS Chicago reported shortly after the horrific incident that the suspects and victims appeared to be friends.

Joliet Police chief Michael Trafton said the four suspects were not tested for drugs or alcohol when they were arrested, according to the station.

Suspect Landerman is reportedly the son of a Joliet police sergeant.

County records show Massaro has a restraining order against Miner, who has an extensive criminal record - including a pending child pornography charge, according to the station.

"This is one of the most brutal, heinous and upsetting things I've ever seen in my 27 years of law enforcement," Trafton said at the time. "Not only the crime scene, but the disregard for common decency toward human beings."

Police were notified about two dead bodies at the house, and officers noticed movement inside the house so they went in, Trafton said.

He said Landerman, Massaro and Miner were playing video games and were "very much surprised" when the police arrived. McKee had left before police arrived but was picked up by authorities in Kankakee, Ill. shortly after, police said

(Clockwise from top left)Adam Landerman, Alisa Massaro, Joshua Miner, and Bethany McKee are charged with first degree murder for allegedly strangling two men to death and attempting to dismember them on January 10, 2013, in Joliet, Ill. / CBS Chicago

Oh wait, it just gets worse and worse:

Kankakee police never called DCFS after arresting Joliet murder suspect with her baby

No, but it's blaming alcohol for an issue that runs way deeper. I drank as a teenager, almost every weekend, with male and female friends. No one ever got raped, nor raped anyone. There was one girl who had a problem with her limits, one night she was close to blacking out. We were all drunk and about 16. We didn't take her clothes off, didn't finger her and take pictures of it. Two guys took her by the arms and we all hauled her ass to the ER. The main difference being, no one was a narcissistic ass, pumped up day after day into believing he is superior and untouchable because he is a valuable athlete, and that women were there as some sort of reward he is entitled to. That's why they took all the photos and vids. They were convinced they were untouchable and that they weren't really violating her that much. Alcohol may lower inhibitions, but it doesn't make you a rapist.

That is a crime indicative of a culture that hates females.
The Steubenville case is also indicative of a culture that hates females. See: http://publicshaming.tumblr.com/

No, this case is a lesson in what happens when you lead boys to believe girls are meat to be consumed and degraded for entertainment, regardless of irrelevant things like 'consent'. I believe those boys would go on being very successful in football and assaulting women. And to make it clear, I'm not calling all athletes rapists. I am however, in this particular case, blaming that whole mindset, the jock culture, that allows for that sort of mentality to thrive. Which is, of course, in itself symptomatic of even deeper issues...

Only about 3 days earlier, people were protesting the cameras being there to begin with, as they felt it was an invasion of privacy and allowed stalkers/creepers to follow people around on the beach

This is a terrible story, and I hope those who were involved are brought into custody and endure the same treatment

The recent issues with the Euro have been interesting. The Cyprus proposal to basically steal 10% of everyone's savings account as a means of bailout are fucking insane. A lot of people are trying to quickly get their money away from the banks who are controlled by governments willing to do this.
