You know what he's likejust prior to the Hyde Park gig I was annoyed because I was sure that all the deep cuts were at curaetion a few weeks earlier. And to some extent that's exactly what happened although it was still an incredible gig.

I'm not sure if those two songs in particular were played at many festivals (though it's likely)? I do have to kind of agree with him though; when they did new material back at Coachella 2004 it was almost like the aural equivalent of a wet blanket. And I really fucking love The Promise. I don't think it was the right crowd.

Yeah, I looked up the set after seeing that comment and couldn't figure out what the fuck that guy was talking about. Maybe its because I haven't seen The Cure live yet, but that looked like a pretty damn solid set to me.

I think some people are "Halo or GTFO"; but I take what I can get. And what we got included a couple of odd festival choices: Burn, Fascination Street, Last Dance, all fantastic; as well as songs that are festival/best-of setlist material at the same time as being excellent songs I love and love to see performed.

They've done some rarer stuff like Wendy Time and Just One Kiss at other festivals on this tour; guess they got a half hour less time at Glastonbury so they had to make some cuts somewhere.

Its a casual fan/greatest hits pop friendly festival setlist. No deep cuts. No dark songs with the exception of a couple. 0 songs from Pornography. 0 songs from Bloodflowers. 0 songs from Faith. 1 song from Three Imaginary Boys. Its catered to The Cure fans who think 'Friday, I'm In Love' is a masterpiece. Most hardcore fans will agree its a shit setlist (specifically The Cure fans who prefer the darker songs/deeper cuts....like me...this is where the fanbase splits. Half the fanbase wants the dark stuff and half wants 'Friday I'm In Love' type songs). The set they played 2 days earlier at Werchter was much better and included (Just One Kiss, 39, Primary, Want, One Hundred Years) but Robert dropped all 5 from Glastonbury (all 5 being deep/dark cuts)

Agreed. I'm a diehard Cure fan for life and any Cure set is worth the price of admission, even if it's (and we all know this is a bullshit stance) 'catered' a certain way. I'd love to see deep cuts...my wife would prefer more of the hits to just enjoy the show and dance. Does that make her any less of a fan? Nah. It's the internet and of course this is words on a screen that mean nothing...but 1000% fuck people that think any different haha. Fuck them and their misery forever!

Of their 4 Glastonbury appearances, this year was somehow the first time Lovesong was performed, along with Burn, The Caterpillar, Last Dance, and Plainsong.
1994's "Burn" was the most recent song played this year; their last time playing in 1995 had a few songs from the then-unreleased Wild Mood Swings even.
47 different Cure songs have now been performed at Glastonbury, roughly half of which were played this year. 24 songs have only been played once.

Yeah, you’re right. I think he’s of the mindset that festival-goers don’t care about the rare songs or darker songs and he’s waiting until they do non-festival shows to unleash more of that stuff, like when This Twilight Garden made its debut a little while ago.

I randomly checked what is currently playing at (in?) cinema here (was thinking about "Yesterday" movie), and few minutes later I had tickets for THE CURE! I had no idea it will be shown in (at?) cinemas, and the last time I saw something similar was David Gilmour and it was great. Looking forward to (for?) 7/17, yeah!

I'm watching it right now. Granted not the perfect setlist but the performance was fantastic. Robert was out dancing on the ramps like Mick Jagger! & Reeves is blowing my mind!

Awesome broadcast. Robert sings FTEOTDGS extra passionately. Changing the lyrics in 39 from “half my life I’ve been here, half my life in flames...” to “two-thirds my life I’ve been here...” is extremely poignant.
