There's some processing on the vocals that sound too crispy but also underwater at the same time. Probably to do with the layering. I'd like it more if those effects were used less.
Been listening to a lot of Drab Majesty lately. They had a song on the movie "Vicious Fun" and I started listening to other tracks and I'm hooked. Sounds like 80s new wave revival. Mix of The Cure, New Order, The Human League.
I was listening to Meat Beat Manifesto's "Subliminal Sandwich" for the first time in probably a decade...still picking up on things in the production and themes of it all...including a theory I have on the track "We Done", the last song from the 1st disc. I always used to think it was like a fun little uplifting way to end the album. But now, I see it as something totally nihilistic, not like I used to see "We Done" in the sense of "yay you've finished the album, here's a celebratory track!" but "We Done" in the sense of "we're fucked" as a society, or worse, "We Done" as in it's already over and it's a post apocalyptic thing (kinda like Zero Sum from Year Zero) . I'm thinking my later theories make sense with the themes throughout the album, like Nuclear Bomb, Asbestos Lead Asbestos (great cover btw) , Transmission, Phone Calls from the Dead... Jack Dangers could be very witty and sarcastic with his soundscapes.
anyway, love the bass in this!
dove into some Goo Goo Dolls stuff again b/c my wife & I snuck into a private $750/ticket Goo Goo Dolls show at the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman on Saturday. Was cool to see them...you can forget how many big hits they had.
