The new Alan Vega album, Mutator, is pretty good. It's from the Vega Vault of unreleased material, which is being mixed, mastered, and eventually released. https://alanvega.bandcamp.com/album/mutator
Eurovision is a guilty pleasure of mine. Was checking out the 2021 entrants today and came across this funky little Icelandic number that is actually fantastic, and now I'm obsessed.
The dance, the nonchalance, the keytars. What's not to love.
I finally replaced my aging ipod touch with another ipod touch and this one is 256GB instead of only 64GB so I've put a lot more music on it. As such it took a long time to get my music library on it over the past two days. It's not full, but neither does it have everything on it. I mean, they don't make a ~500 GB ipod after all.
Anyway, what I'm listening to. It's been awhile since I've listening to trash cans played at great speed so I'm listening to the red rocket itself today.
Actually it's the Metallica OOs playlist so it's going to also be
and of course
and if there's time before work's over
These are all the Mastered for iTunes versions. I haven't listened to these versions before so I hope that at least Death Magnetic and EP sounds better than I remember. Heck, I remember playing the first single for my wife asking her if it sounded as bad as I thought it did. I haven't listened to it since I last played it on GH3 so here's hoping something's different about it.
Yes it's weird that this is my first choice. I'm also culling my music - 500ish GB is a lot of music but at the same time a decent fraction of that is from bandcamp and is lossless - so I'm starting with stuff that has high potential of my not listening to it again.
I don't know if a song has ever summed up how I feel about our entire society better.
My heart beats in my head and it's thunderous
Those caught in the rat race plunder us
They know what's best for us
They know what's best for us
Gotta keep up, gotta get ahead
Gotta go and get a job and work 'til I'm dead
They know what's best for us
They know what's best for us
And I'm thinking that they must have missed the point
Hold on, we just hold on for an exit
And I'm thinking that they must have missed the point
Hold on, we just hold on for an exit
Out to deplete, out to defeat everyone
Out to deceit, out to deceive anyone
They know what's best for us
They know what's best for us
They're automatically given the authority
Why? I don't know, it's a vile monstrosity
They know what's best for us
They know what's best for us
And I'm thinking that they must have missed the point
Hold on, we just hold on for an exit
And I'm thinking that they must have missed the point
Hold on, we just hold on for an exit
You see, the purpose of the rat race defeats me
When we're gone, what's left behind?
But there seems to be no end and no reason
Yet we still carry on
You see, the purpose of the rat race defeats me
When we're gone, what's left behind?
But there seems to be no end
When you finally reach the front of the pack
There's nothing there, just an endless barren track
It goes on and on
It goes on and on
You know what?
Let's get disqualified!
Let's get disqualified!
And I'm thinking that they must have missed the point
Hold on, we just hold on for an exit
And I'm thinking that they must have missed the point
Hold on, we just hold on for an exit
I'm not a big fan of their work after this album, but the title track to I Am Hollywood fucking slams. The whole album is fantastic. ETID-esque, southern rock-infused metalcore. If you need something to pick you up and kick you in the teeth, this is it.
"remember when you were young, how the hero was never hung, always got away, remember, how the man, used to leave you empty handed, always, always, let you down"
