This is classic heavy, melodic Deftones to me. There is nothing over the top, nothing underwhelming, it's just them rocking the fuck out doing what they do best. They sound very very tight this time around though. This album is going to own.

Tempest has so much emotion in it; almost as if I can feel the music.

I can't believe they are still that awesome after all these years. I really thought I wasn't into this band after Saturday Night Wrist and Team Sleep (I still hate this album). But then Diamond Eyes came out and they were still great! And then these new songs? Just god damn wow!

Then again it's early days, I wasn't blown away by Diamond Eyes and Rocket Skates as singles, but just about the rest of the album I thought was great.
What? No way, man. These two songs don't sound anything remotely near Nu-Metal to me, at all.

Love it. Reminds me of what Radiohead's lighting rig looked like when they played Nude during their 2008 tour.

Found a picture of tonight's setlist on the opening night of the tour:

Slightly disappointed that it's still essentially the same set as the Diamond Eyes tour, but at least they've peppered it with quite a few new tracks.

The setlist is ok but i agree it's very similar to the DE Tour and would it kill them to play "Beware" sometime???

No shit. I love Saturday Night Wrist and would love to hear a portion of the set dedicated to that album. Beware, Kimdracula, and Combat or RatsRatsRats. Is that too much to ask for?!

    Arrow

Yeah that set list still crushes.

    SPOILERS*****

Agreed with the previous statements though; Needs moar ST, SNW, and even some more Diamond Eyes goodies (Beauty School, TPID). Maybe even 1-2 more Koi No Yokan songs... And that encore needs a serious update.

    If I had my way I'd delete songs like Summer, Feiticeira, Digital, Elite, and get it looking something like this;

    Bored
    Poltergeist
    Rosemary
    Diamond Eyes
    Rocket Skates
    Passenger
    Butcher
    Beauty School
    Drive
    Knife Party
    Rats
    Kim Dracula
    Engine
    Fireal
    WGTB
    Leathers
    Korea
    Around the Fur
    Change

    Beware
    Battle Axe
    This Place is Death
    Tempest

I could honestly go with never hearing any of the Adrenaline songs live again. I wish they'd cut those down to a minimum and replace them with deeper cuts.

    EDIT----

Just read a review of the show that said they performed Riviere before Change even though it wasn't on the setlist.

Ok, now THAT would be awesome to see in Kansas City.

Was debating seeing them tonight in SF but am feeling kinda sick so I opted out. Hope they play another round of shows once the album is out.

I was playing around with the idea of what I'd prefer to see Deftones play on this tour and think I came up with a pretty good one.

    Rosemary
    Poltergeist
    Feiticeira
    Passenger
    My Own Summer
    Be Quiet And Drive
    Diamond Eyes
    You've Seen The Butcher
    Royal
    Beware
    Kimdracula
    Digital Bath
    Battle-Axe
    Minerva
    Bloody Cape
    Tempest
    Leathers
Change (In The House Of Flies)
    ----
    Korea
    Rats!Rats!Rats!
    Headup

I love head up too, but don't reckon they could do it without chi, his screams kinda make that track..
