Man i forgot how utterly bad ass the X Files got when mulder got abducted. I'm rewatching the show and we are at that part now.

And you know, the whole bit where liquid metal man has to be warmed up to the reality of the supernatural? When i was young, i was just like "Ohh, wack, mulder isn;t on it now!"

But now i see, especially watching them all in a row, that the show was actually about to jump the shark. That story arc, and liquid metal man, are fucking awesome.

Why couldn't the second movie be AT LEAST as good as the last episode of season 7 and the first couple in season 8?
Why didn't someone say "hey, i just realized that this movie is really bad! let's write another one!"
I mean, a camera man, the caterer, SOMEBODY?

Just wasn't what people were expecting to get or wanted. As a standalone, it was fine. Nothing wrong with it at all. They should've known there would probably be a backlash. People want canon.

I need to stop buying tshirts and probably don't need to give any money to Fox, but I couldn't help but buy one of their X Files shirts they put out.

    I'm quite happy with it

The actor who plays Langley has short hair at the moment, nooooo!

I wonder if they'll use the season 10 comic explanation for why they're alive, or something totally different?

Current episode details gleamed from around the web, titles aren't available for the last two as of right now -

#1: My Struggle [written and directed by Chris Carter]
#2: Home Again [written and directed by Glen Morgan]
#3: Mulder and Scully Meet The Were-Monster [written and directed by Darin Morgan]
#4: Babylon (note that a leaked callsheet now calls this episode "Cupio Dissolvi") [written and directed by Chris Carter]
#5: ??? [written and directed by James Wong]
#6: ??? [written and directed by Chris Carter]

Spoilers/rumours to be taken with a pinch of salt:

Spoiler: - Kumail Nanjiani is a guest star in episode 3
    - Scully's mother is in episode 2
    - Lone Gunmen and CSM are in episode 4, which is about "a Satanic serial killer" and deals with Scully's faith with "a shocking revelation".
    - Home Again apparently involves a villain who is wished into existence.

Csm and lone gunmen are back, 2012 didn't happen. It's funny when red dwarf and dr who play hell with continuity, but im not sure about this! I though mulder getting pardoned in the 2nd film was weak

Would you be mad if Krycek is back too?

If they're bringing back all these dead characters, then there's no excuse for them to not bring back Krycek. Unless he chooses not to. Any word if we'll see Doggett and Reyes? It would be nice considering they're characters outcomes are unresolved.

I don't want to know too much spoilers, but what's going on? They're retconning the timeline and ignoring some of the previous events?

If they're in a standalone ep and not a mythology ep, I'm guessing they could be visions/a dream.

I'm totally fine with the Lone Gunmen death being retconned though, ha.

Robert P said Doggett won't be back according to Wikipedia.

i think it's going to be about ghosts. Remember, the final episode of the x files had a lot to do with ghosts, and Mulder's final lines were something about the dead not being lost to us.

Also-i just finished re-watching all of the x files (as an adult) to prepare for January, and good god, i can't BELIEVE all the religious symbolism and undertones of the show.
It's ostensibly about belief in the supernatural, but i think what Chris Carter was REALly talking about, to a degree, was belief in god.

And holy shit (no pun intended.) there's a fucking entire wikipedia page about it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_The_X-Files

Shame. Doggett and Reyes in one ep would have been nice, and a cool tribute to those actors who did really awesomely in a thankless job.

I watched a bunch of episodes with Robert Patrick (with whom I share a birthday, mind you) but I have missed the episode little bro Richard was in. Which one was it again?
