Holy crap, I was following "the heist" all last night and wake up this morning to find it leaked. Now I go to download it and the tracker I get music from is down!

He was the biggest Tool fan I've ever known IRL, practically introduced the band to all of us in our gang. Just a bunch of teenagers really into music and movies, but he was always the coolest one. Even back then, the "next Tool album" and how much we'd have to wait for it if it ever happens was a major joke already, and now you can't help but wonder what could've been.

I couldn't be there, but some of the guys made the trip to the cemetery on Friday and put on FI (the single) for him. He would've liked it, I'm sure. The whole record, judging from the first three tracks.
Strange coincidence; my best friend killed himself two years ago on August 23rd. . . He was the biggest TOOL fan I've known personally. It's hard not to think about him while listening to this, especially so close to the anniversary of his passing. . . RIP to who all have been lost. Spiral out...

    Tool

I don’t live and die for Tool. It’s a band. And, yeah, the music is soothing and helps cope and gives me a lens for the world around me.

But when we were talking the other night about people not making it to hear it there was a bit of mockery. And it’s actually pretty personal for me. I almost lost myself a few times over the last 11 years or so.

And it’s not like, “I’m so glad I survived for this moment!” But I’m glad that I’m here and can benefit from it. 13 years is a long time and a lot of stuff happens. So we should spare a moment for the people who would have benefited from this.

Well said. It is a very long time, and I, too, fell down a multitude of holes during that time. But, well...

Does anyone know where we can buy this still? That unboxing video did it for me. Maybe they'll release more when the manufacturing production is worked out?

Right? I haven’t heard it yet, but Fear Inoculum sounds like a good title

OR - and this is where I'm borrowing from reddit again - there are seven versions of the packaging.

I think it's more likely that some of the lines are printed on transparent wrapping, same as logo and album title on the front

'Tool ain't what it used to be', Maynard has made it clear that he isn't heavily involved with TOOL now, not like he was in the 90s; being a TOOL fan is boring, even my devote TOOL fan friends are kind of meh about TOOL lately.

If anything admins should make a MAYNARD subform (Puscifer, APC, Tool, Caduceus Cellars...).

I find Metallica's stance fascinating, "no Jason Newsted, you cannot have a side band, any creative juice and ideas you have are for Metallica"

I wonder how much Tool has suffered because of APC, Puscifer, and the vineyard (and all that legal shit TOOL dealt with).

Yeah that band that sells out every large arena show with ticket prices pushing $80-100 and only headlines festivals needs its subforum thread combined into an MJK thread. Beyond the vocals, those other projects sound nothing like Tool because Carey, Jones and Chancellor. If you really think so little of Tool's new music, fine, that's subjective. However, I can also state my opinion. Your association of how others should think based on your opinion sucks balls as does your understanding of how a forum works.

^ Where did I say that I "think so little of tools new music"? I really enjoy the new single 'Fear Inoculum' - I have it in my workout playlist which gets heavy play.

During the 90's and very early 2000s TOOL were releasing albums and singles every couple of years, if not several times a year. They were also releasing music videos, touring, and doing raw interviews...... TOOL was very active, then things came to a grinding halt for 13 years; touring aside.

TOOL IS NOT WHAT IS USED TO BE.

It will be interesting to see how things go from here on out with them. Their contract is done, so they can do whatever they want. Hopefully we'll get more output now...but we'll see. It's clear that the guys are really happy with what they've done, and they are looking forward to doing more. Maynard likes to stay busy all of the time, so things are looking positive.

You clearly think little enough that it doesn't deserve its own thread and should just be lumped into an MJK catch all thread. You clearly think little enough that you need to make a comparison to Metallica for fuck's sake. Come on... You trying to tell us what you weren't implying with your opinion as if that is how everyone else feels? lol. Notice I have not picked on anyone for not liking the album or thinking it's not as good as their previous material. When someone makes a comment that others should do this or that because they are no longer relevant; nope, you're getting called out.

I didn't say that TOOL doesn't deserve it's own thread, the ETS forum admin said that the lack of interest doesn't warrant TOOL having its own subform. I think my suggestion of a MJK subform in lieu of the denied TOOL subform is a good idea, just like 'TRENT AND ATTICUS LIKE TO SCORE' is a subform here on ETS, is that an insult to NIN?

Additionally no where have I said that I do not like the new TOOL material.

I apologize if I've made you feel attacked in away with my comments.

You haven't made me feel attacked at all. The implication stands. I disagree we need an MJK subforum. Tool is not Puscifer nor is it APC. The thread structure is fine the way it is. And I see little waning in interest in this band on its own. If that's what you were referring to, fair enough. But you were quick to edit that out of your post and carry on like you weren't implying Tool as an afterthought or some shell of their former self, which I also adamantly disagree with. But I haven't heard the new album. I'm glad you like it. Hopefully I will as well.

I find it so odd that they haven't updated their official site to even mention the new album, let alone sell it from them directly.

Gotta say, how obnoxious are those e b a y scalpers with new album that want to charge twice or more for new album? Is the economy so bad in the land of the free, home of the brave?

Nah, it's always been like that. Somebody will pay those prices though, and that's what drives it to continue.

I have kind of a left field question for the Tool collectors out there. A friend of mine was asking me if i had a handle on a certain older release of Opiate on cd that apparently has a picture of the bassist (i'm assuming it's Paul at the time) sitting/standing next to a corpse? Either in the booklet or part of the jewel case? I said i'd ask around, if anyone knows what she's talking about and is willing to sell, i'll buy it from you plus shipping. She seemed to think this was something super rare, but i didn't really know enough about it.

Good question, I've got two printing of the album I check when I get home work.
