Hope it isn't too off topic, but I did a thing and built a little record cabinet for my girlfriend and I's record collection.

Note: Yes there's bracing underneath, the legs are attached to the bracing itself and YES i'm going to get those speakers off the ground. I'm probably gonna make a pair of matching speaker stands this weekend for them.

As on-topic as you can get. Looks beautiful.

Do you have something on the bottom of the metal legs to prevent scratching the floor? I have carpet so I'm ignorant to the hardwood situation.

As for speakers, those look wall-mountable. If they're too heavy though, I totally understand. I'm running 2 sony ss f100's & 2 vintage akai sw 120a's - I just keep them on the floor because they're giant.

I got the record cabinet free locally off marketplace. They said the door didn't shut, they just didn't know how to fix the bracket. I've been working on painting a 4-tier cabinet I got for free too, I just need to figure out where I'm going to put it before I get it back together. Which I'm sick of doing.

The pic here of the 4 shelf cab is from the marketplace ad so it's not mine and terrible quality. Apologies.

I'm about to toss it because I'm sick of working on it. The shelves are 13 tall x 13 deep. Need a shelf? lol

Looks great! I like the dark stain coupled with your wood floor pattern... lighter color crate that blends and an even lighter seating sack... green end table, faucet/tap... Everything works together to be country kitsch without being gaudy in the least. Mama didn't raise no fool.

    My purchases today:

David Bowie // Blue Jean (Extended Dance Mix) (Single) [US, 1984, V-7838-1/2] - both hype stickers
Miles Davis // The Man With The Horn [US, 1981, FC 36790] - with original 1980 advert sleeve; first piece of 80's Miles
King Crimson // Larks' Tongues In Aspic [US, 1973, SD 7263] - Richmond, Indiana (RI) pressing; labels end in "RI"
Tangerine Dream // Stratosfear [US, 1976, PZ 344277] - first gatefold US pressing

I'm looking to upgrade my customised 4x4 storage solution (upper strut moved to allow for the amp/receiver; custom sized doors)

    https://jmtd.net/music/new_door.jpg

to a 2x3 but sadly ikea don't do that size. B&Q do this:

    https://www.diy.com/departments/form...1369936_BQ.prd

And I took some measurements yesterday and I think it could work except it's "inverted" compared to ikea design : the vertical struts run the full height and the horizontals are individual. Which makes me worry a little about its load bearing, also moving or removing the uppermost partition to fit in my receiver is a little more complex. Compared to the ikea models, the internal and external pieces are approx the same thickness, so I might get a 2x2, orient it 90° for the load bearing, and cannibalise a 1x2 onto the top.

it wouldn't look quite as nice, but you could always get a 1x2 from ikea and put it on the bottom, and then fasten the backs together.

Thanks. Yeah I might end up doing that actually. But possibly on the top. Pros for ikea: quality, known entity. But limited colour choices. Pros for b&q: their walnut finish would suit my living room. But the furniture itself looks a little cheap/flimsy.

Last night I was looking through Reddit and there was a post that Rammstein's Mutter is now out of print for reasons no one appears to know. All of the other ones are still alive and kicking, but Mutter, nope. This is a record I have passed over numerous times at my local record shop thinking "...this damn thing just came out... I can get it later." So after doing a quick look on ebay, I called my local store in a near panic. Picked it up today. Got home and UPS left my newest ebay win on my doorstep. Its a good day for metal at my house.

El-P's I'll Sleep When You're Dead is getting a repressing on Vinyl Me Please in February. Probably worth picking up for Flyentology alone.

anyone ever experience this before? A friend of mine bought some inner sleeves a few years back that ended up damaging the LPs tucked inside. See the white lines that run across the two photos below?

and these were the sleeves he used and he thinks he got them from sleeve city. Does anyone know how to remove the lines on the records?

according to my friend, isopropyl is partially to blame in this situation.

In other news, I'm digging the new Halsey album and ended up pre-ordered a cool looking splatter 12" from the official store. I missed out on the Deluxe Edition which looks pretty cool, and then there is a Urban Outfitters exclusive that looks like it might be a copy of the deluxe edition but on coke bottle green wax.

    HEAVY HITTERS:

Led Zeppelin - "Houses of the Holy" white label promo $2,714
Self Titled Turquoise Lettering - $2,596
Self Titled RCA Contract Pressing - $450

Black Sabbath Test Pressing with proof sheet of inner sleeve - $1,489

BEATLES "Yesterday and Today" - Butcher Babies cover $3,865

Nirvana Local Anesthetic TEST PRESS: $726

And there just so happened to be a Beatles record fair going on in Tokyo this past week so all the stores had a bunch of collections on consignment. It was crazy seeing three butcher baby covers in person and each one looked like it had just come off the printer.

The Japanese definitely take good care of their records.

There's a very interesting doc on, I think it's Vice, about Japanese downsizing their living space so that they can afford the highest quality audio equipment. It's fascinating.

Any idea what it was called? Sounds interesting but googling "japanese audio vice documentary" isn't giving me great results.

Well, golly. I guess it was the Wall Street Journal. I'm not seeing anything currently in the recommended, but when I first found this there were other mini-docs about Japanese audiophiles:
