Literally like $1000 of damage. :/ At least from what was pictured. Better safe than sorry!
Yeah - I saw that too, ugh! I’m a big proponent of lidded and ideally water-resistant storage out of my own deep paranoia about damage to my collection while in storage. If weight and cost weren’t an obstacle, I’d have everything in big plastic bins with lids secured by multiple latches. All my CDs are in a variety of these (the best of which have come from the The Container Store, if anyone was wondering), but I’ve relied on cardboard moving boxes for bulkier items like box sets. Now I just need to figure out whether something like my CD bins exists in a size large enough to store the LPs.

started in on a big backlog yesterday as i hadn't listened to a record in literally a month! o.O

barnett / coloccia / mueller • see through
    300 copies on clear w/white splatter, hand-printed & -numbered postcard 19/25

earth • full upon her burning lips
2xLP on green & black galaxy swirl in gatefold sleeve
definitely the coolest picture i've ever taken of any of my records. i was actually worried when i opened it because without a light source behind it, the vinyl looks straight up black.

    helms alee • noctiluca
500 copies on glow in the dark green

young widows / sweet cobra • live at three floyds brewing (split LP)
420 copies on random marble color

    Ghost - Infestissumam (translucent red)
Ghost - Prequelle (smoke colored w/ 7inch) --been on a huge Ghost kick
Murder By Death - As You Wish: The Kickstarter Covers vol. 1-3
Elliott Smith - Pretty Ugly - yellow 7inch with early version of this and "A Distorted Reality"
Poe - Haunted ( I too can hardly believe I own this on vinyl now)
    Beck - Morning Phase
    Hot Snakes - Jericho Sirens
Scott Walker - Scott Walker Sings Jacques Brel
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Once More with Feeling (red/blue "Sweet" swirl color)
Sleep - Live at Third Man Records

Just received my original first pressing Lullabies to Paralyze by Queens of the Stone Age. For those of you who don't know, they recently found a ton of these, still sealed, in storage and put them up on their website. I think they were available for a few hours before they were all sold out. Pretty cool.

I need some help. My girlfriend and I are playing our records on a pretty cheap record player straight up through a $50 soundbar designed for low end TVs. It well, plays the music but not great.

I'm looking to get her a nicer record player with a nicer speaker setup but I'm not trying to completely drain my bank account either. Are there any possible recommendations that you could provide that's within the $250 (+ or - $25) range? I don't mind buying separate and setting things up myself - looks are sort of important and I was looking at this but I'm so green in this space I'm not sure what I'm even looking at.

Help? (I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this)

We should be able to help.

Personally, I'd stay away from Crosley because you can't adjust the tracking force of the tone arm (meaning the stylus will generally be "heavy" on the records groove and it'll shorten the lifespan of your records), and while that isn't the most crucial aspect for a lot of people, its something to think about.

I like the Audio-Technica line of turntables, but they may look too professional or industrial in design. However, i did spot this AT-LPW30TK on the site today that may be closer to style that catches your eye.

If you have the option, maybe check out some used record player stores. There are some great older-style turntables out there that.

Yeah, I realize I'm only tackling half the question but my speakers aren't much... mainly I listen through 5.1 speakers on my computer (for "near field" listening). For more causal livingroom listening, it's... uh... more. The 12" subwoofer is nice.
