one of this years best finally showed up!
Blood Bitch is an investigation of blood.
Blood that is shed naturally. The purest and most powerful, yet most trivial, and most terrifying blood: MENSTRUATION

Yea that is a great album. Sacred Bones continue knock it out of the park.
listened to this yesterday:
the dear hunter - act V: hymns with the devil in confessional
2xLP on 180g white/blue vinyl
definitely my favorite dear hunter album so far
A friend of mine was giving away boxes of records and invited me to help myself before he sold the whole lot... and I SCORED MYSELF FIRST-PRESS COPIES OF OK COMPUTER and TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT! Really excited to give these a clean and spin, they are legendary and in quite good condition.
tonights the night by neil young?
that record sounds so great.
now playing
mono - requiem for hell
2xLP on pale gold / silver w/etched side D, limited to 1000 copies
absolutely beautiful so far (finishing side A at the moment)
Yep, got a couple of other 70s Neil titles too, but none as distinctive. It's a mind bender. Also scored early US pressings of Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division, Zappa's Freak Out! (in glorious mono) and Refused's The Shape of Punk to Come. Quite a significant boost to the record shelf, I must say.
the new nicolas jaar album, sirens. comes with a scratch-off lottery paper front cover

Anyone bought any of the David Bowie Vinyl box sets?
It looks like their are two sets now spanning different years.
Best thing about coming home after being on the road for a month on the east coast (other than my own bed)... Is sorting through my vinyl hoard I had shipped home. And there's still a couple boxes on the way...

recent arrival:
oathbreaker - rheia
2xLP on electric blue/white limited to 500 copies
100% my album of the year. really sad i missed out on my friend doing an Audiotree session with them here yesterday (he invited me to sit in but i couldn't make it).
Gonna be in Colorado for a week coming up. Anyone from the Denver area got any recommendations for the best Record Shops that I should try to visit while I'm there (and any recommendations for any good dispensaries would be appreciated as well!).
Really depends what you're looking for. Twist and Shout on Colfax is kind of the "gold standard" around here. The place is massive and stuffed to the gills with cool shit, but there is also a lot of nonsense and prices tend to be higher than anywhere else. They do have an amazing selection of soundtracks and jazz though if those are your things.
Wax Trax on 13th and Washington is a good little store too. The current owner has been running the shop since he bought it from Jim and Dannie before they left for Chicago, so that's pretty cool. You can find some really weird and unique albums here. I picked up a promo (only one's pressed) of Chemlab's East Side Militia and a copy of Revolting Cocks' Linger Fickin' Good from their used bin for next to nothing. In fact, they've always had a bunch of really cool old industrial albums there.
There are multiple Angelo's Records and CD's locations around town, but the only one really worth visiting is on Broadway, close to Evans St. They've got a pretty eclectic selection of new vinyl and a pretty big basement full of used stuff too. I always go here for RSD cause it's always empty. Skip the Angelo's location on Colfax, unless you are in the market for a copy of With Teeth or Year Zero, which you will find in all their overpriced glory on the vinyl display wall. Last I checked, the WT was $200 (although it is unopened) and the YZ is $170 I think.
Black and Read is a pretty cool shop, but it's waaaaay out of the way (88th and Wadsworth) but if you do manage to get up there, Mikey is the metalhead with the long hair behind the counter and he's fucking awesome!
Can't help you with weed cause I don't smoke, but my brother is constantly smoking and he goes to Native Roots in the city. I would assume that would mean it's good but I couldn't say one way or another.
Enjoy your trip to Denver! Hope the recommendations help!
recent arrivals, played yesterday and today, respectively:
dillinger escape plan - dissociation
2xLP on black vinyl with etched side D
what a way to end on a high note, holy shit. the title track is one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard.
rachel's - systems/layers
2xLP on white vinyl with the "technology is killing music" EP on side D
so, so glad they finally pressed this on vinyl. this is one of those albums that saved my life in high school, and it still holds a very special place in my heart. it's also quintessential fall music.
Think I'm beginning to run out of space...

hung up the new shelf on the left, hooked up the speakers w/ higher quality wires, and cleaned up the music area a bit today. hopefully adding a another 1x4 cube soon - been a great year for new music so I've added a lot to the collection since bowie's backstar came out in the beginning of January
yeah, i always say "at least i'm investing in something that, if i ever needed to, i could sell, usually at a higher price. it's not doing anything detrimental, and i literally don't spend money on ANYTHING else." (seriously, i barely even buy clothes, unless old ones rip)
Got my Secret Scream EP, #179. Also purchased the Happiness is a Smile single at the Dillinger Escape Plan show the other night. Billy Rymer signed if for me also. While I was at the record store today, I purchased the red translucent Option Paralysis. Pretty happy with my recent acquisitions.
my wife isn't like...i didn't mean to paint a picture like that. i think she's just never had something like that, where she spends money collecting it, so she doesn't understand.
meanwhile, the light on my turntable came on the other day for the first time in i don't even know how long (i think there's a short in there somewhere but i haven't bothered trying to find it) so i checked the speed settings and both 33 and 45 were SPOT ON. figures.
