Not sure if this is sarcasm, but why would you buy a record and then NOT listen to it??

Anyway, my latest acquisition would be Sing Sing Death House by the Distillers, which is one of my favorite albums ever! Really happy to finally have a copy on vinyl!
Next up will be Trap Them's Seance Prime 7"
and then I have waiting to be paid for:
Genghis Tron - Board Up The House 2x12" clear splatter pressing, and all 5 of the remix 12"s!!!

Fuck yeah, can't wait to get that!!!

im just at a point where i dont buy vinyl just for the sake of owning it. like i have no desire to buy a rare david bowie record. because i know ill never listen to it. i'd rather rebuild my collection with music i know i'll actually play.

its not sarcasm... or is it...?

Got today Diamond Version - EP1 12". I thought it was supposedly to be released in late september. Great EP, nice blend of Alva Noto's and Byetone's styles.

Oh, yeah I know exactly what you mean. Purged my collection of things I was just keeping for no other reason than to just have it.. I actually ended up giving my dad like 30 records! He's a collector, too.. Has like 2500 records and is always going to shops and stuff...

I have found so many things on Discogs but I don't have any money to buy anything... I'm afraid to do trades because (1) I am afraid of the shipping process (USPS might mess up) and (2) I don't think I have anything that rare. It is nice to look around and put up a wish list.

I'm relatively new to vinyl (about a year or so) and am probably on the 40 - 50 mark so far. Saw this thread and was inspired to take some pics, these are probably my favorites of what i've managed to grab so far.

Gil Scott Heron & Jamie xx - We're New Here

Gil Scott Heron & Jamie xx - We're New Here (Instrumentals)

DJ Shadow - Def Surrounds Us / I've Been Trying

^ Hand drawn / stickered cover by Shadow's kids

V Hand drawn back / stickered by Shadow (+ Glued on air travel reciepts haha)

I'm really interested in the visually appealing stuff but would never buy something I wouldn't listen to

The other day I bought Radiohead's I Might Be Wrong. sounds phenomenal I was going to buy Kid A, but it was marked above what I could afford at the time.

EDIT: I went back and bought Kid A. Totally worth the money.

I also picked up Primus' Frizzle Fry at their concert in Wichita last month. In hindsight I should've picked up Green Naugahyde as well. I need more colored vinyl!!!

I used to collect vinyl back in the 80's and 90's, not so much now. I certainly had a lot more vinyl back then than I do now. These days I tend to only buy vinyl if it happens to be a special edition of some kind, coloured vinyl, picture discs, numbered editions, etc, etc.

Just dug out my green vinyl version of Spiritualized's Songs In A+E for a spin. Lovely.

currently listening to "Map Of What Is Effortless" by Telefon Tel Aviv. i was worried when i was cleaning side A because it seemed like there were serious texture issues, but it was just the extremely defined percussion in "I Lied".

    the whole thing sounds gorgeous.

eta: now i'm on to "How We Quit The Forest" by Rasputina (signed by Melora)

Just got my VAULT package #14 in the mail today Jack White and Co. seriously know how to present an album visually. The cover art 'morphs' between two imagines of Jack (think TOOL's Aenima album artwork). The top left is image #1 and top right is image #2

I find myself torn as to whether I should open it up or keep it sealed. Below is a photo from the Vault site that shows what the contents are.....if you're not a member of the vault yet, do it. Its totally worth the $60 subscription fee......

^^Got that in the mail recently too, it really is a beautiful set. Haven't listened to the LP yet but I keep going back to the photobook, it makes me miss the Dead Weather tremendously. The demo 7" is a little disappointing, it's only short snippets and the recording quality kind of terrible. Being that these are early home demos that's understandable though, it's still a cool to have insight into how those songs started out. Overall the package is totally worth the $60, as Vault packages usually are.

On a similar note, this came the same day in a separate mailer. Don't know why Third Man didn't just pack the records together, it would have saved us both some money. Oh well.

Did you see all the sweet stuff that went on sale during their holiday sale? Triple Decker Vinyl!? *ugh* I was so mad that I missed that

I feel really lucky to have that inverted lightning bolt LP, back in April I was literally the next person in line for the regular bolt LP when they sold out so when TMR announced this version on the Vault I pounced on it as fast as possible. It's excellent but I wish the other side was as lightning-bolty as this one, it's pretty much just blue with two oblong black dots.

I followed along with the flash sale but being broke & having had pretty good luck getting special TMR releases in the past (I've got a Karen Elson peach scented/coloured LP and a Black Belles glow in the dark absinthe LP with the banned cover) I didn't even try to buy anything. Gotta say I would give almost anything in the world to have one of those Dead Weather Triple Deckers though, they are shiny and beautiful and I really hope the lucky bastards who got them didn't just turn around & flip them on eBay. They also sold an "I'm Shakin'" test pressing flexi-disk which may be the only one in existence, it's a total novelty collector's item but I can't imagine what people will pay for it if it ever goes up for sale again.

A while back in the HTDA Sigil 03 thread, I posted a MakerBot video in which they joked about 3D-printed vinyl records (that vid is now private).

    Today, I saw this:

it's cool from the standpoint of "wow! look what technology can do!" but as a vinyl connoisseur, it's HORRIBLE.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot to post about what came in the mail yesterday.

Hands down one of the best re-releases I have purchased from Music on Vinyl. Pressed on 180g virgin vinyl, this thing sounds AMAZING. I'm hearing sound bits that I didn't know was there before. This thing blows the CD variant away x10. I picked my copy up from a guy on eBay who was selling them for $28 with free shipping. I would jump on them now while you can since everyone else is selling copies for $40+

Yeah, I'm still scratching my head as to why this is "Excerpts from Outside" - maybe Music on Vinyl went the lazy route and only wanted to press one vinyl?

it was actually pressed the same way with the same title in 1995. virgin probably didn't want to spring for a 2xlp back then as vinyl was on a serious decline. this is a reissue of the original vinyl edition. it makes sense in a posterity kind of way, but i do wish they just went for a double vinyl to accommodate the whole album.
