1,500 copies on red & black galaxy, gatefold sleeve w/booklet
Saw a post from my local record shop showing some of the used titles they just got in. Saw the below pictured and called them right away. "Please put it aside I will be there in ten minutes."
Five minutes later (because one breaks the speed limit when you are about to obtain one your holy grails) I am walking out of there thinking to myself "Must walk faster. Must walk faster.." like I just stole from them. Guy behind the counter was like "I can't believe this is 11.99" Makes two of us. The damn thing is like brand new and doesn't have the cut in the corner most copies of Iowa typically have. Poster was in there too. Not the Europe mispress either. I am so happy. Anyway, ya'll go have a shot for me.

I used to work at Suncoast Video a looooong time ago. When we had stock that was to be destroyed or to be sold as a heavy discount, we would take a black marker over the barcode, or with some Laserdiscs, we'd cut the top corner that had the bardcode. Pretty sure, the cut on the record barcode you have is something very similar to that. Amazing to think that, right? At some point close to 20 years ago that some vinyl copies of Iowa may have ended up being sold at a heavy discount because they weren't selling.
I bought Prequelle Exalted last weekend
Record Companies also sent out advanced copies with the same thing: holes or sharpie lines through the UPCs, so that people couldn't resell the CD. But when I worked at FYE years ago, we bought promo CDs all the time from local radio DJs.
That "Abbey Road - Anniversary Edition" with the new mixes and 1/2 speed remaster sounds great. A treat for the ears, but give it a good cleaning.
Opeth's In Cauda Venenum box set is gorgeous. The windows can be adjusted, similar to Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin:

In for Claypool, Czarface, and Tenacious D.
like lowering the cost of records? that'd be ideal. fuckin' capitalism :/

this score is absolutely incredible, and the packaging is so gorgeous (also vastly improved from the standard release)

Regarding the record store day list: yes, I too agree it sucks. Out of all of the things in there, the only one I really want is (and don’t poke fun) the Sugar Ray release of 14:59 because that album was the shit when I was in like 9th grade and MAYBE the Pearl Jam unplugged release.
I always go to record store day with my buddy Aaron and we always get there at like 530am regardless of the quality of the list. It’s just tradition now.
And seriously, how many years in a row can fucking Sublime have a release for record store day? Enough!

Yo... I may sound like a broken record here (no pun intended) as some of you have heard my frustration before. But want to get some opinions on this.
I love collecting electronic music. Some of the smaller(ish) labels put out some of their white label tracks that you can't get digitally only on vinyl. Like 3-500 run. Most of these sell out in minutes and then go for like $50-400 on Discogs. It's frustrating, so I make sure I grab it as fast as I can. I always rip them afterwards to my iTunes. Also, most of these labels are overseas in Europe for me. Always stoked to get them, but I am so sick of getting the records damaged when they finally arrive here to America. These releases usually have 2-3 tracks on them. The record itself is usually less than the shipping.
Even though the labels expedite ship them (for like $30-50) they always come damaged. Like corners bent. The sleeve itself damaged from the record inside the package and now there is a huge hole in the bottom of the record sleeve etc. My question is, do you feel that this is justified having been sent across the pond? I am just bummed when I finally get the record and I haven't even had time to damage it myself. I am getting tired of sending an email to get a replacement. Should I just let it go and realize that this stuff is going to come damaged, regardless if I spend extra money to get it sent here?
