I am bored by both.
Electric Wizard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Black Sabbath. The copy is better than the original.
Love the Doors, don't like Velvet Underground, or get Lou Reed in general.
David Byrne: does he have any other good songs in addition to "Road to Nowhere"? If so, I have not heard them.
You don't like "Psycho Killer???"
The Doors are really dated. All Doors stuff says "Hippy Love Den" like the Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit."
Also, for me, all Doors songs sound pretty much the same. And I have no fucking idea what Jim was taking about. Whipping the horses' eyes.
Admittedly, I can no longer listen to any Doors without seeing Val Kilmer and that hilarious movie in my head.

I feel the same about the Doors. More like the Bores amirite?
What about this one???
How about this one??

The Foo Fighters are extremely boring. The Cure are boring too (not as much). The Black Keys are terrible.
Songs for the Deaf is the worst album by QOTSA, I can barely listen to it (love all their other records, though), the only song I genuinely like is A Song For The Dead.
Machina II is the best SP album (Adore comes in a very-very close second).
I'm serious.
More people actually would agree with this sentiment than you'd think! A lot of fans adore (ha-ha) the Machina albums and Adore, with pretty much everyone saying that the Machina remaster is what they're the most excited for out of the entire re-release campaign.
I gave up a while ago picking a favorite SP album honestly, but Adore was the first to click and both Machina albums felt like they came from another world in a great way.
the doors sound like circus music to me.
Re: David Byrne
One of his most iconic performances for good reason.
Re: Other matters
-I quite like the Doors, but the Velvet Underground were light years ahead of them (and most other stuff from the era) IMO.
-Adore and the Machina albums are my favourite SP releases.
-I've never listened to a QOTSA album in full. All of the singles I've heard over the years I enjoyed well enough but I've never felt the urge to check them out any further.
I'm not the biggest QOtSA fan, but I don't dislike them either. But they're great live. Changed the way I felt about them.
I love The Doors but I agree Morrison was a bit of a hack lyricst/poet/whatever, except as a frontman. Plus the three musicians behind him made his ramblings coherent enough on record.
Have you checked out all of Remain in Light? I found a box of records in my old apartment when I moved in a few years ago. Remain in Light was one of the albums. I put it on having heard of the Talking Heads but not their music. I don't want to say it was life changing but it was pretty close.
I think the whole Stop Making Sense live show is on YouTube. It's worth checking out. His book had some interesting parts but overall it was dull.

The Doors actually have a pretty eclectic body-of-work. The first two were "acid rock," the next two were more pop leaning, especially The Soft Parade, with all of the horns and strings. The next three were straight forward blues rock and the final album incorporated elements of jazz (the last two were recorded after Morrison died). The Doors are underrated, imho, as their overall canon is often overlooked, with all the focus on the singles.
Maybe Morrison's lyrics don't make a lot sense--I don't care, he was cool as hell.

I love The Doors, especially L.A. Woman.
OK, here's some more controversial thoughts:
1. Motley Crue were awesome (I'm talking about Shout at the Devil, Girls Girls Girls and Dr. Feelgood). Mick Mars is an amazing guitar player, and Tommy Lee is one hell of a drummer.
2. I can't stand The Beatles. The Rolling Stones are are an infinitely better band, imo. I wouldn't listen to The Beatles if I got paid for it (I do realize they had a huge influence on music, not saying they were talentless hacks or anything, it's just that everyone I know seems to enjoy them to some extent).
3. The Wall is a great album.
4. All Hope is Gone was one of the worst albums I've heard in my life, and I loved Iowa and Vol. 3. Generic riffs, terrible lyrics, unimaginative ballads. And calling "Gehenna" experimental after "Skin Ticket", "Gently" and "Iowa".
This isn't a "controversial" music opinion. Especially not on THIS forum, since Father Trent Reznor told his Brethren that He loves it so much.
He was cool, until he got really drunk and bloated. I've listened to all kinds of Doors, trust me, I just can't connect to it and it all seems dated, it just didn't age well. It's not timeless music.

There's nothing wrong with Motley Crue. They're fucking awesome.
and good god the doors make an awful noise live.
not my cup of tea.
I used to love Motley, kind of tired of them. Their s/t 1994 album with John Corabi was one of the most overlooked rock albums of the 1990s.
