That makes sense. I can see him doing more acoustic music if he were still around. Maybe a weird, folksy project.

I'm listening to the Rivers Cuomo solo stuff and there's really no reason to make people pay for this.

I think that it should be changed to "God Bless America" which is a much better song, imho.

i'd much rather, if we're going to have a national anthem, have it be something that's not religious. like john mellencamp's "aint that america"

that was a joke, but seriously, separation of church and state, folks. it's important. the national anthem shouldn't mention any kind of god.

I am in effect saying Surfacing by Slipknot, but really 5 Finger Prostate Exam is terrible. They could be a decent rock band as their covers are the best thing they've done but fuck if dude isn't ... generic.

There's a funny bit in Michael Moore's The Big One where he suggests it should be changed to "We Will Rock You"

    Anything by Aretha Franklin.

to clarify, I mean that any song she has recorded should be our national anthem. Can you imagine everyone singing Freeway Of Love before baseball games?

my controversial opinion - john lennon's "imagine" is one of the least enjoyable songs ever written. the lyrics aren't just overly-saccharine, they're STUPID. and they're also super hypocritical coming from that dude. the music is grating, especially the vocal melody. it's been used for so many awful shows/movies/commercials that just reinforces my hatred for it.

if i was given the option between never hearing "imagine" again, or never hearing "don't stop believing" again, i would choose "imagine" because i hate it so much, i'd rather have to hear "don't stop believing". i would actually rather have to hear "don't stop believing" once a day for the rest of my life than ever have to hear "imagine".

    whoo i feel better now.

Totally agree about Imagine. I found this article about it, which also has a list of 337 songs that people also hate

The second film had an interesting message.

    Everything's not awesome
    Everything's not cool
    I am so depressed
    Everything's not awesome

Whoa, I think I finally get Radiohead
Bro, you should check out Elliot Smith
What's the point? There's no hope
    Awesomeness was a pipedream
Aye, my spirits be at the bottom of the sea
Love's not real, I just wanna eat carbs
    Pass the ice cream
I am not a thing you can just use
    To fill emotional voids with
    Stop, everyone, okay, just listen

    Everything's not awesome
But that doesn't mean that it's hopeless and bleak
    Everything's not awesome
But in my heart, I believe (I believe)

We can make things better if we stick together
    (If we stick together)
Side by side, you and I, we will build it together
    (Yeah, build it together)
    Build it together (Together forever)
    All together now

This song's gonna get stuck inside your
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
    Heart

    Everything's not awesome
Things can't be awesome all of the time
    It's an unrealistic expectation
But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try
    To make everything awesome
In a less idealistic kind of way
We should maybe aim for not bad
'Cause not bad, well that would be real great

Everything is better when we stick together
    (We stick together)
Side by side, you and I, we will sing it together
    (Always together)
    Party forever (Together)

This song's gonna get stuck inside your
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
    Heart

Same. But I really don't like the Beatles....at all. Just not a fan.

True story: there's some weird neighbor that loves blasting Chris Stapleton's Tennessee Whisky....4-5 times a night when they're in their pool (it's Florida), which is 2-3 nights a week. Last night I was so fed up with it, that I thought I would get perspective...and decide that as far as songs go, it wasn't the worst. I landed on Aerosmiths' I Don't Want to Miss a Thing as the worst song that could be continuously played so much.

I still think the neighbor needs a note put at their door.

I believe that it's been determined that this is the worst song ever:

Someone actually listened to it 324 times in a 24 hour period.

And the worst part is Glace Slick was pretty awesome in the 1960's.

Pretty much every band I listen to has been influenced by them, but I really don't care about Fugazi or Fu Manchu. There will be a song or two I like, yes, but I just can't bring myself to get excited when one of them hits town or releases something new. Sorry.

Feel free to set my head straight though if you think that there is something I ABSOLUTELY need to hear or so.
