Help is a fun, underrated movie. A Hard Days Night is a classic (that also inspired The Monkees).

"What's the name Mary Jane" is one of my favorite Beatles songs. It's somewhat obscure and was left of the White Album.

Anyone hoping that the band release The Black Album? The concept of that album itself is amazing. If you don't know what I'm talking about. Watch Boyhood.

^ No. Bad idea. Keep them separate as intended!

Paul Sinclair's SuperDeluxeEdition blog has the full run-down, with pre-order links and tracklistings for the individual albums.

Of notable interest to Beatle-people: the previously unreleased earlier take of "The Inner Light" as a bonus on Wonderwall Music!

I loved that George Harrison doc that Scorsese did. Especially the interviews with Eric Clapton as I never knew that the Yardbirds opened for the Beatles. Plus, hearing Clapton's reaction into what he would've thought if he joined the Beatles.

That'll be worth the full 50 bucks in 5.1 if it's that much better in surround.

I picked up the 1+ Blu-Ray last week. I haven't had a chance to watch it, or listen to the CD yet. From what I've read this version of 1 is yet another new remastering/remixing job and people seem to like it. I wonder if that means that the remasters from 6 years ago are going to be replaced soon. If that's the case they're getting pretty shameless with all these re-releases.

I don't get this whole "anniversary celebration" thing. It's 35 years after the day he was MURDERED. That day was HORRIBLE. I'm still trying to FORGET it. We should celebrate his birthday, not the day that some ASSHOLE decided to get famous by MURDERING him. I couldn't stop crying for weeks, I'm not too into "celebrating" this "anniversary."

This one is actually something people have been clamouring for (a straight-up videos collection), with yet another remix/remaster of the 1 album thrown in for good measure. It's kind of a mixed bag, for me... some of the remixes are quite good, others are piss-poor. I felt the same way about Love, I feel the same about the Criterion Hard Day's Night remixes.

Personally, I don't think the original mono mixes can ever be topped.

The mashups are infuriating but it still has the best sounding stereo mixes of "Help!" and "Revolution" (on the DVD-Audio disc).

Have the Anthology releases and "box set" been available since streaming launch? I don't seem to remember them. There is also an "Anthology Highlights" release, which Amazon says was released digitally on the 4th of this month.

I "inherited" the full thing (6 CD's, 8 VHS) from my stepfather over 10 years ago so those slipped under my radar if they were previously available.

We saw "Eight Days A Week" last night, really enjoyed it. I've always been partial to their catalog Revolver and onwards, but it's easy for me to forget that their first half was just as crazy. In the movie, they go from their last tour to the rooftop concert in '69, and it seems like a completely different band.

I would recommend checking out the movie, it's on Hulu and produced really well.
