i have a photographer friend who really wants to do a boudoir shoot with me, and i mentioned it to my wife who said "i know what you look like naked." :|

I'm aware that is what you were going for. It's just generally a crappy way to go about it. Like people who say things like "Stop being depressed", "Cheer up", "Stop being a drug addict". None of those things happen overnight, and they take lots of hard work. But she HAS been working on it lately. So she's doing great on working towards that!

at its core, it means "i am not interested in you doing a boudoir photo shoot because i know what you look like naked and i wouldn't feel compelled to look at the pictures in a way that would be sexually arousing to me."

this was a while ago and i actually told her how negatively that affected me because of how much subtext there was to it. i know she was trying to be funny at the time (and it was funny when she first said it), but given our consistently inconsistent sex life and all of the body image issues i've had throughout my life, i came back to it realizing that it was actually a very negative thing to say.

if i ever do a boudoir shoot, it'll be for me, and if she wants to look at the pictures, she'll just have to ask.

on the plus side, we still do cute things together, like two weekends ago when we went to an apple orchard just to get apple cider donuts, but also got apples, and also went to a pumpkin patch, and we looked like this:
