so you know when you find delight in something and you are kinda weirded about it when it is something you had no idea you would delight in? and maybe you feel kinda ashamed because you don't know why you find delight in it?
    yeah.
long story short: the first 6 charms for my charm bracelet arrived today and i squeed and squealed, like a good little piggy, and can't stop drooling over them. now if the bracelet itself would arrive, i could enjoy this perplexing joy hanging from my wrist. lol.
nothing against jewellery or charms...just didn't have myself pegged for the charm type.
    ??? lol.

i am a crystal and mineral junkie and yesterday a gorgeous specimen of cavansite on a stilbite matrix made its way into my greedy and joyful hands. one of the cavansite rosettes is star shaped. i also discovered a tumbled dragon's blood stone with a fucking dragon on it. (tmi) i was in the bathroom at the time, lol, and two boxes of minerals/crystals were in there and i was digging through...and hit the bag of dragon's blood stones and immediately saw the dragon and let out a scream! i could hear my friends "wtf?" and another one responds "oh, she must be going through the boxes". due to the realities of mortgages and such, i decided to NOT go through the other box...until they "forced" me to...at which point i met my darling little cavansite/stilbite friend. sigh. the blue!!!! the blue is so deep and saturated and just fucking AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

A text that just said "Good morning, beautiful" on a day where I really, really, really needed something cheesy like that.

Halls, when they greatly help alleviate minor allergic reactions and common colds. I'm also grateful for Listerine PocketPaks in this regard too.

valentine's day party at school today. was up early attaching temporary tattoos to valentines for youngest. just before leaving he asks if i found the surprise in my bed. go and look and there is a valentine's card, a tattoo and a chocolate kiss for me.
last night the oldest called me "mom the scientist" LOL. little cretin. can't wait for "mom the doctor" "mom the dictator" "mom the GOD" (dreaming on that one) etc.
they make me laugh a lot. particularly when i probably shouldn't.

this should be cross posted to little things that simultaneously bum you out lol
the school picture school bus frame (y'all remember those, right?) that i bought when my oldest was in day care is now full.
    omg.
i remember putting his j.k. pic in there and thinking "wow. so many years to fill." and now, here we are, all full.
i need a little "side car" dual photo for grade 11 and 12, so technically the bus is full too early (it starts at grd.1 instead of j.k.)...buuuuut...it is only 2 years until he is done highschool. holy fuck.

one of my eye brows is starting to go silver.
it is kind of funny looking, but kind of neat.
why do i have a feeling only one will go fully silver and one will stay dark?

Yeah well cherish it while it lasts, but there's a very narrow window during which it looks great, right before it turns into long years of "my hair looks like wet ashes". The transition between "woot, literal silver lining !" and "I am Gandalf the White" is a bit awkward when your hair is dark.

Then, of course, at 27, my hair had thinned enough that head shaving was probably the best option—with nary a fucking grey in sight. And now, the goatee I've had for much of my adult life has a number of super thick greys coming in...only on one side. It looked really awkward. From time to time, I've shaved it off, but even then, I'm always a little scraggly. And they still drive me nuts. It's like my follicles took a vote on which ones were in the best position to make me look awkward with a rapid depigmentation, and then they acted on their consensus.

My brother-in-law had a moustache for 30 years—wouldn't even shave it off when I offered him $100 to do it and then grow it right back—and he finally had to ditch it because it went white on one side and nothing at all happened on the other.

Why the hell is goddamned vestigial fur such a pain in the ass for some of us!?
    vestigial fur.
you are now firmly (for the day ;p) on an altar.

i remember asking a hair dresser if i could dye my hair white, and being told that a rude and vulgar and eye wrenchingly evil shade of brassy-ish white-ish would be the closest possible (i am brunette) to it.
    so i didn't.
and what is up with lack of symmetrical graying? i guess this is more common than i thought.
