I hope they’re re-recording The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny. It would be great to get a real release of that material.

Patton joins members of SOD for a variation on one of their songs. Bungle played this at their shows a few months ago. The first NYC show was the last show I've been to. I miss shows.

this was cool. Seeing a contemporary of Lars Ulrich like Benante who still has great chops really puts Lars' awful drumming in even more focus.

I wish Patton took the hankerchief off at some point. But I'll survive.

What's the difference between "new" bungle and dead cross again?

New Bungle is original Bungle (plus Dave Lombardo and Scott Ian). The album that will be coming out soon is a re-recording of their original thrash metal demo tape.

Dead Cross is a hardcore band that has Patton and Lombardo in common with Bungle. Michael Crain and Justin Pearson are the other members.

I appreciate the response but my question was tongue-in-cheek. The sound of this incarnation on Bungle and Dead Cross are interchangeable. I am not sure why this sort of Bungle recording is necessary. Maybe i will be surprised in the end.

I mean, have you ever listened to the original demo tape? The audio is horrible. It'll be nice to have those songs properly recorded now. And I disagree that they sound the same. Similar, sure. But they're definitely different.

It makes sense what Bungle is doing in regards to re-recording the first demo (which i have tried to listen to some years back). The thought I had listening to the Bungle and Dead Cross covers were that the vibe felt pretty much the same.

i think that's more down to the songs being punk songs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Problem with Mike lately is he is doing punk cover songs with Lombardo in Dead Cross and simultaneously doing punk cover songs with Lombardo in Bungle so wires are getting crossed. One band sounds like the other and vice versa. Its a weird time for Bungle to go back to their hardcore roots when Mike is in another hardcore band already. Just reading comments on youtube for Bungles Exploited cover and its mostly negative and people complaining it sounds nothing like Bungle. Thing is, Bungle has been doing punk covers since the early 90s. In 92 they did DRI and Dead Kennedys covers, in 95 they did COC and Siege and Meatmen covers and in 99 they did a Raw Power cover.....I would gladly take Mike, Trey and Trevor together again doing repetitive 4 chord thrash songs than doing nothing at all

I just noticed that some of the parts in Bungle's Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz are similiar to parts of Charlie Parker's Dizzy Atmosphere.

Ah damnit, really keen on that tape but it's sold out everywhere. Don't know if I want to shell out the money for some vinyl and the yearbook, though.

EDIT: ah fuck it, got the red vinyl and the yearbook...

funny that i generally dislike thrash metal but i love it with patton on vocals haha

still insane to me that they went from this to the self-titled album. talk about a shift in sound.

Actually they went from this to str8 up Fishbone style ska and Chili Peppers funk. Their 1987 demo Bowel of Chiley was totally different in sound. They abandoned thrash within 6 months after they released the Easter Bunny tape

i mean i would say that sound very much carried over into self-titled, yeah?

On the 87 demo they were really going headfirst into ska and even reggae. A lot of the songs on the self titled album are re-recorded songs that originally appeared on the 87/88/89 demos. The only songs on that album that were written specifically for the album were Travolta/Stubb a Dubb/Dead Goon and My Ass Is On Fire......

Bungle will be doing a live stream on Halloween! Ticket bundles also include a new color variant of the vinyl, if anyone is still looking for it!
