Trump also made that weird claim about how countries were “emptying out their asylums.”

I’ve heard people speculate this, and I know it sounds far fetched and kinda crazy… but, do you think he thinks that’s what people are talking about with asylum seekers? Like, they’re from insane asylums?
Is that why he keeps talking about Hannibal Lecter?

No dude I guarantee he just watched it on TV one day and couldn't get it out of his head. The same way how every year when Shark Week rolls around and the ads start getting plastered on every commercial break, Trump starts going off about how much he hates sharks.

It's really hard to tell whether he's playing on the simplicity and gullibility of his audience, or if he's that simple himself. A little bit of column A and a bit of column B I think.
The guy isn't subtle, but I don't think he's as stupid as he makes himself out to be, but he certainly believes everyone is. And his most reliable rhetorical weapon is confusion. His narcissism pushes him to always pretend to know better, to be on top of everything, so he tends to stretch himself thin easily, especially since he's not interested in much beside himself. That makes him blurt out whatever goes through his mind given any topic, and it rarely sounds smart.

But the guy is a media monster, he's well-aware of the shit most people ingurgitate on TV and online, and he's more than happy to serve some more of the same shit. If sexy white girls started to make "twerking for trump" a trend on tiktok, he'd start shaking that ass. So it's really hard to tell which part of stupidity is genuine, and which part is him being smart about his audience.

Elon is now trying to claim that a billion people listened (through some kind of redistribution tracking?).
It was two hours of self-congratulation by two billionaires.

Trump: Kamala couldn’t do this interview
    Elon: yeah
Trump: She’s not smart enough to
Elon: yeah. You can’t talk to her.
    Trump: Because she’s not smart.
Elon: It’s like talking to an NPC

    Sell your Tesla.

Oh, yeah, and if you heard Trump slurring and sounding like his mouth was full of cotton balls? "Must be your hearing," according to the Trump campaign... ok, so everyone has screwed up hearing. Everyone. Ok.

I could not, and more importantly, would not, watch that shit show but am pleased it played out exactly as you’d expect.

Kamala’s campaign reaction was chef’s kiss, though. I’ve been saying for years we need to take the kid gloves off and batter these dipshits.

Oh god, imagine that, it would be LemonParty all over again, without the joy... Thanks, I'll pass on the awkward, self-interested attempt at mutual jerking.

I'm not sure what rattles around in that head of his but it all stems from a fundamental lack of understanding / curiosity of the immigration system, the asylum process specifically. He just has no idea how it works and who the asylum seekers really are. That mindset is what you expect from rando Joe Blow in Middle State, USA but not from a presidential candidate and CERTAINLY not from a former president. It's 100% inexcusable. His, ahem, advanced-age mental state only compounds the problem.

Yeah he does this… during his crazy press conference he was talking about insane asylums, and how people were coming from insane asylums from South America or something… saying they were “mental institutions on steroids.” Maybe he really doesn’t know

It just seems so crazy maybe, that people aren’t even seriously considering it

It makes him sound like a 13-year old trying to participate in public discourse on equal footing with adults after learning in school how the democratic process works and having quickly browsed through a few headlines.

Oh hey, my annual government ethics training is due today. weird that the training doesn't seem to apply to anyone who actually needs to take it.

    Especially this slide:

Place loyalty to the Constitution, laws, and ethical principles above private gain.
Put forth an honest effort in performing your duties.
Act impartially with no preferential treatment for private organizations or individuals.
Protect and conserve Federal property and other resources.
Disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to appropriate authorities.
Satisfy your obligations as citizens, including paying your taxes.
Obey laws providing Equal Opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or handicap.

Don't hold financial interests that conflict with the performance of official duty.
Don't use nonpublic information to further any private interest.
Don't solicit or accept gifts from sources doing business with or otherwise seeking action from VA or gifts given because of official position.
Don't purport to bind the Government if you do not have authority to do so.
Don't use your public office for private gain.
Don't take actions that give the appearance that you are violating the law or ethical standard.
Don't engage in outside activities that conflict with your duties.
edit: Just saw this article, I think they had fun writing it.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opini...sk/ar-AA1oLXPw

Investors holding stock in Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. can't say they weren't warned that this would happen.

Donald Trump, the former one-term president evicted from the White House after losing the 2020 election, used that company to launch his social media website Truth Social in 2022 after another website formerly known as Twitter banned him in 2021 for his failed effort to overturn a free and fair election.

Elon Musk, the only person on the planet more thirsty for attention than Trump, overturned that ban after he bought Twitter and reshaped it into the disinformation carnival now known as X.

Trump, who had not posted on the website for nearly a year, returned with a vengeance Monday in a flurry of new posts and then a two-hour, glitch-marred ramble fest with Musk that broke no new ground and left the audience with a collective feeling of "what did we just listen to?"

If Truth Social's stock price was a metric for reviewing all that, then Trump seemingly tanked his own company with his return to X. Truth Social's stock, which has been a comical rollercoaster, hit its lowest point in four months during trading Tuesday.

The folks who run Truth Social for Trump always knew this day would come.

God, he’s so full of shit, who actually believes this kind of crap? “Oh, uh, I’ll end inflation and make shit cheap. How? Uh, I’ll just do it, vote for me. After I win the election, I’ll reveal my super awesome plan to reverse inflation. Then I’ll get around to really important shit, like ‘keeping men out of women’s sports.’ I don’t really give a frosty fat fuck about women in men’s sports, which you might say is an odd double standard, but hey it’s me. And, uh, I’ll stop ‘inappropriate racial content’ from being pushed on our white children. I mean, all children. LOLOLOL.

Oh yeah, I’ll also rebuild everything and make stuff safe too! How? I thought we covered that shit. Vote for me! Who do I need to pander to? Old people? Hey, old people, I wanna give you money and stuff. Hey, evangelicals, I totally believe in the same crazy shit you do! Getting shot at got me closer to god!“

It’s amazing how boring he’s getting. If he weren’t threatening to overthrow our country with some bent theocracy, everyone would tune out. This is only amplified by comparison to the Harris campaign, which is still building momentum and energizing people.

Nobody wants to listen to you cry about how you wish you were still facing Joe Biden… nobody cares that you and your team of vile fuckwits spent a hundred million dollars on attack ads focused on Biden… nobody cares about your endless lies and bullshit… even your supporters can’t stand it anymore.

He’s not just weird (and dangerous), he’s boring. We’re all desensitized to how shocking he was at this point.

He must have been so pissed off when he heard.

That entire team must have been furious.

Fly on the wall for some of those calls, eh?

More groundwork being laid to try and claim the election was rigged, butternut squash claimed today that there's no need for an election because he's "polling at 93%".

Obviously none of this is true, but he's starting...
