interesting piece of info from axios:
The Harris campaign is pressing Wall Street donors to cut their checks as soon as possible, citing a financial rule that bars contributions to tickets featuring a sitting governor, according to people familiar with the matter. Why it matters: The urgency of the requests has led some donors to conclude that Harris plans to pick a governor — and not a senator, like Mark Kelly of Arizona — to be her running mate.

If that's the case, I'm not sure why they would go with an option that limits their financial capabilities in the future

There’s no way you get to slink away like a coward, saying bullshit like that. Nobody’s going to buy it. We already “know everything?” So there’s nothing to lose right? Go to the debate, and let her “say everything we already know,” you lying fucking liar.
I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to challenge his energy, cognitive capability and his age.

Within the last 20 or so years, almost as a rule, VPs are not introduced in their home state. Not saying Harris will stick to that pattern but keep that in mind before making assumptions on the pick.

I saw a post on reddit yesterday that was basically: I hope the Dem coalition doesn't break down because "their" pick isn't the pick. And I have to agree that all this snatching defeat from the jaws of success that the Dems have done for decades makes me very wary of how together they appear to be now.

I'm hoping it's because Kamala isn't the same generation as most of the politicians that have been in charge for so long so it's seen as a sea change.

agreed. i’ve watched democrat leadership do the dumbest shit with a great candidate like Stacey Abrams. do not underestimate their ability to screw it up. wanting a perfect candidate that checks every box would totally fuck this up. she isn’t perfect but she is great.

bloviated conservative matt walsh is on twitter saying republicans cant compete with thee stallion supporting harris and eventually taylor swift (i’ll throw in beyoncé, matt!) so trump should focus on policy!! its just so funny to me because WHAT POLICY! can anyone name any trump policy that helped them?

here are the things i can list off the top of my head that show he has no policy and only wants power:

tax breaks for the richest americans and profitable companies
    relaxing restrictions on polluters
packing the scotus with people who owe him favors
trying to cancel votes (my vote)
attempting to overthrow the government by riling up his base
    turning on his vp
    ignoring covid
    the stolen classified documents
    libel for assault
    pussy grabber
    porn star pay off
endangering foriegn agents and diplomats (no one ever brings up the earliest scandal of his presidency. the threat to Ukraine Ambassador https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Yovanovitch)
last but not least, mocking a disabled reporter without any consequence

and now the weirdest of the weird: after a perceived assassination attempt, shouting “fight fight fight” with no regard for his safety or his security’s safety and protocols or the safety of the people in attendance at the rally. i’ve watched it a few times and i don’t understand why he acts like he does there. his actions are fucking weird.

these things are just what we know about. there’s probably more egregious things that will be found out about for years.

call him old all you want but he has the emotional maturity of a teenager. he doesn’t care about people, their religions or actual patriotism. he can perform all these things whenever he wants and his base ignores it when he flashes back to his true villain self.

my preference would be for him to disappear from the media after harris hopefully wins. the top conservatives in my state seem to think that the gop could pivot back middle of road conservatism if they make an obvious separation from him. but it’s seems like their leadership in other states and branches are lost too. they’ve let him run the party ragged. they now look like idealists, like libertarians, talking “policy” but never having any.

Republicans asking to focus on policy is the sort of rich irony I've grown used to from them, the best response to that would be to attack them on project 25, which is as coherent a policy platform as they have

Trump falsely says Harris ‘turned Black’ after previously promoting Indian heritage at NABJ meeting

“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black,” he said. “So I don’t know, is she Indian, or is she Black?” He added that: “I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn, she went —she became Black. Somebody should look into that.”

Well, he did need to start taking back over the news cycle, and that certainly did it. And it's insane but that's a real strategy, to just be the person people hear about more

how long until Maga takes the "we're not going back" chants and turns it into "she's not even black" chants? I say 1 day at the most.

don’t get complacent with a good candidate. there’s still work to be done. i signed up to write postcards to swing states and you can too.

    https://www.turnoutpac.org/postcards/

it’s a great way to reach out without showing up in person at someone’s door or event. i got one in 2020 and it was an anonymous nonpartisan message encouraging me to vote. i’m excited to give it a go.

Newsweek (not sure how reliable they are) reporting that Shapiro is the favorite at the moment to be VP. we'll see soon.

That footage is honestly quite incredible. The entire audience laughing at him when the moderator said "But they're convicted" was SO good.

Arizona election officer Stephen Richer, who defended 2020 results, loses GOP primary. (msn.com)

A Republican election official in Maricopa County, Arizona, who forcefully defended the integrity of elections in the county and as a result was shunned by some in his own party, lost his primary race on Tuesday.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer lost the GOP primary to Justin Heap, a state representative who has cast doubt on election operations in Maricopa County but has not outright said that the 2020 election was stolen.
man I hope these losers who deny the election results lose bigly this fall.

And then… he actually doubled down on it. This is completely insane

All of his advisors have to be pulling their hair out right now. You had one job Donald! All you were supposed to do was not attack Kamala Harris with baseless, bizarre attacks on her race… but you just couldn’t help yourself. How long did he last before he went after her racial identity?

Just insane. And is this going to make any difference? Does anything? How is this race still this close?

it's close because unfortunately our country is very uneducated and filled with bigotry. sadly, one could have said the same 300 years ago too. we're just slightly better now.

all signs point to Shapiro https://www.axios.com/2024/08/02/jos...p-running-mate

I'm not fond of his stances on charter schools and I know his Israeli war views will not be popular (especially in Michigan) . dems need PA for the election I assume so that's why they'll probably go with him.

Just seems crazy they would risk all that momentum on a more divisive candidate. But hey, it's the Dems.

And just like that, Rittenhouse spun around and changed his mind, and tweeted that after some thought he decided Trump was super awesome on the 2nd amendment…

I don’t generally wish for people to be abandoned by everyone around them, leaving them alone and unwanted… an infamous pariah…

But it’s Kyle Rittenhouse so it’s ok. The only reason I know this shithead’s name is because he did something horrible, got away with it, and then was celebrated by the worst people in this country for being a horrible person. I’m 100% here to see MAGA piss on him.

Since he's not a former head of state, I feel comfortable saying that if he was walking one way and a bullet was coming from the opposite direction, I wouldn't be particularly sad if they happened to collide.

So now Trump is saying he will debate Harris, but it has to be on Fox News, and it has to be in front of an “arena audience.”

What? Who is going to be in the audience? Why not insist that his adult sons moderate the debate while he’s at it?

He’s obviously trying to get the Harris camp to balk at his renegotiated terms, at which point he’ll quickly say “Oh? So you don’t want to debate? Oh well, I offered, I guess you’re afraid to meet me on my very reasonable terms.”

So… call him on it. Agree to the stupid “arena audience” and the Fox setting. They’re not expecting that. He can fill the audience with MAGA hats. Fox’s moderators can throw him softballs. Kamala will still absolutely destroy him.
He’s trying to figure out a way to get out of the debate and not look like a pussy… it’s obvious. Pin him down right now and agree to his debate, and do it quick before he changes his mind or adds some other stupid stipulation.

Don’t argue with his stupid terms. Don’t try to argue for something more sensible. Just take the offer and destroy him.
