What a fun weekend. My wife and I got back a few hours ago, and I finally got a chance to sit with my thoughts.

Red Rocks is an INCREDIBLE venue and good god did we lucky with the weather. Hearing that everyone at the Phish show not even an hour or so away had to get evacuated on Friday because of the rain storm while all we had to deal with was a little bit of heavy wind and viewing lightning in the distance made us so fucking lucky. I always worry about outdoor shows and the threat of bad weather ruining the experience for me or cancelling the show, so I can't thank the weather gods enough.

We stayed in South Broadway and what a fun area that was. I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Denver Biscuit Company (holy fuck is the french toast biscuit incredible) and the bar "Casey Jones" - completely TMNT themed, which was right up my alley!

My wife and I ended up doing the Thirsty Lion Shuttle, and outside of the little bit of confusion on the way back—it was a really simple way to travel with nice people, except for Saturday which I'll probably write about more in the other day. On the first night, we were row 30 and turns out our seats were right next to @Papagolash! It was so awesome being next to a fellow EtS member and singing all the little ins and outs of each song and getting pumped for what was going to be played next.

I saw Yves Tumor back in March at a more intimate venue and I'm shocked at how well everything translated live in a much larger space like this weekend. Their show made me realize what a special thing their 2020 record is and how I pretty much love every aspect of their material. I describe them as a noisy, aggressive Prince ... but there's a lot of post-punk and even some Bloc Party in there. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few years, they break out even bigger.

And man, Nine Inch Nails opening with Somewhat Damaged was a treat ... was really, REALLY, hoping we were going to get a full on Fragile run through on the first night after they went into TDTWWA, but oh well. Honestly, the highlight of the whole night was FINALLY hearing And All That Could Have Been. You could feel the hush in the crowd when that one started, even amongst dare I say the casuals and an obnoxious group of friends that were talking pretty loud during more obscure songs ... but even they got quiet for that one. Powerful, powerful song that I was beyond words excited to experience live.

Sadly, out of the 23 songs—I only got the chance to see four new ones for the first time in This Isn't the Place, And All That Could Have Been, Last and EDIETS — which holy shit, the latter of the two I never expected to be able to hear as I always seem to miss out on Last and I'm SO glad that EDIETS has finally made it's way into the set. It sounded SO good.

As did the other tracks I love that I got to hear again some not since 2005 with Sin and TLBTB. The Perfect Drug sounded especially on point as did Ahead of Ourselves. I am a bit bummed that outside of that track, it was the only thing from the trilogy not on Add Violence as personally AV is my least favorite. Also, I swear I can never escape Echoplex, LOL. The song is fine, but out of (at that point) 6 times seeing them, I'm just so tired of always hearing that one.

Outside of the small personal disappointment of only hearing four new songs, I thought Burn and Gave Up just sounded off and a little slower/sloppy—moreso Gave Up. I'll have to go back and check them out again.

All in all, a great first night! A LOT of walking, but I loved it! Also, I'm kind of glad I wasn't NEEDING to have anything at the merch booth this year as those merch lines were ridiculous. I'll share some videos I took on Instagram below!

While we were flying out to Denver from Mpls I told my girlfriend that I'd likely end up crying if they played This Isn't The Place. What I hadn't accounted for is the possibility that they might play TDTWWA first. Fuck, as soon as that song started the tears just started flying.

I was just writing down what I thought the highlights were for me, and I got about halfway through before I realized I was basically writing down every single fucking song on the setlist.

What a great fucking show at a great fucking venue. That's all I can really say.

I'll also add that it is really really great seeing Robin take on more of a "full" backup singer roll, to the point that there were moments where Trent was even backing off and letting Robin sing the lead on some parts so Trent could riff around him. And how about Robin doing those crazy unhinged "muted" backup vox in Reptile?!? Robin's voice is just so great, and I'm beyond stoked to hear him louder in the mix and singing much more frequently in the set.

was really hoping we were about to get a full run through of the fragile after the first 2 songs. i enjoyed this night more than night 2 but both were spectacular. the lightning behind the stage also added a dramatic touch to the evening. couldn't go anywhere in denver all weekend without seeing someone in a NIN shirt. as for the opener, yves tumor didn't do much for me but i appreciated the energy.

This was my 10th NIN show and first time at Red Rocks and it did NOT disappoint! Back when the 2022 dates were announced, I was only planning on attending the two Oregon shows (I have several friends who live out there). But when they opened up a small amount of tickets and you could sign up for a chance to buy them, I thought what the hell. I was selected to receive an invite for the "NIN ticket opportunity" through TicketMaster and I actually ended up getting tickets in Row 2, which was too good to pass up, so I bought them. A few days later, I got an email from Red Rocks' Guest Services informing me that because of a glitch in their system, I'd wound up buying tickets for the accessible seating section meant for the mobility and hearing impaired. They gave me tickets for row 12 instead, which kind of hurt because I was so pumped about the notion of being in row 2, but I kept telling myself that row 12 is still pretty damn good. My friend from Oregon and I had never been to Red Rocks before and this was the perfect opportunity to pop that cherry. So, I planned a trip from MN > CO > OR with three NIN shows (plus a Murder by Death/Amigo the Devil show in Portland) sprinkled throughout. The drive there and (once doors opened) walking up the stairs into Red Rocks felt epic in the most exciting way! Plus, the heat lightning that was going throughout the show was also really cool and added to the atmosphere, though it was making me a little nervous that they'd cancel the show. The band was tight as hell and of the three shows we saw, this was the one that had the most surprises in the setlist for me. I got to see This Isn't the Place (one of my favorites from the trilogy) and Every Day is Exactly the Same for the first time, both of which were fantastic! Also, I'd only seen Last, The Line Begins to Blur, The Perfect Drug, and And All That Could Have Been once each beforehand, so I really appreciated seeing all of those agin (they're all favorites of mine, too – especially Last and The Perfect Drug). This was the most chill and relaxed of the shows we saw because we had assigned seats and didn't have to rush to claim a spot (though I did rush to get a poster and the merch line was already insanely long despite the fact that we arrived an hour and a half before doors opened) and we had plenty of room to stand/dance, so that was nice! I'd love to see Tool there someday, I feel it would be the perfect venue for them. No matter who I see next time, I can't wait to go back!

Finally saw a show at Red Rocks!

I had really good seats and although I freezed my ass off for part of it because of the wind, I had a blast at the show. The setlist was the best of both nights, and got the hear my favourite song of all times again, AATCHB. This was perhaps the best performance of the song I've seen, and the sound at Red Rocks is really good. Because it's build at a very steep angle, you're most likely stand perpendicular to the speakers, which means you hear the mids and highs very clearly, whereas in most venues if you are at ground level the bass tends to wash over everything.

Plus several of my all time favourites of course : Somewhat Damaged, TDTWWA, The Line Begins To Blur, The Perfect Drug, The Big Come Down.
Was cool hearing Discipline again too (!!) .

Great performance, the band was especially on fire that night.

Did anyone else order the "Collector's ticket" that was offered for the Red Rocks shows? Mine came today and it looks like this, only with the correct date. I'm a little disappointed because I paid $14 ($7 each) for it and it doesn't even say "Nine Inch Nails" on it or anything.

I got one of those for Saturday's Mariners/Asstros baseball playoff game. It was free though. It does show the event but pictures are of cheatin' Asstros. Ms deserve at least a token pic after 18 innings!

Got mine as well — super stupid they can't even print the event name next to the date.
