I watched this Apu character study that explores the argument over his depiction as being racist toward Indians, i have to say i think it makes some pretty good observations for why he isn't or shouldn't be viewed as such. That being said i haven't seen the documentary "The Problem About Apu" yet and i still can't say for sure one way or another because I am not Indian and have not experienced being misrepresented, teased, mocked or bullied because of a cartoon character.

It's the same controversy of the "Brazil Episode", of course they are mocking and exaggerating, but there's also a degree of truth, that's why they are stereotypes, i'm Mexican and i'm so used to them and i laugh at this point.

well, unless you believe nazi conspiracy theories about aryans being from the himalayas, I am not of Asian descent & to be honest my opinion on whether it is offensive is of arguable value.

    But anyway here it is

The Simpsons came from after the shit on everyone below us era of comedy, and as such all social strata were lampooned fairly equally.

Were every white family portrayed as without excess, I would find the depiction of Apu inordinately critical & therefore distasteful

All episodes will be shown in the original aspect radio on Disney+, unlike the hatchet job FX did on the older 4:3 seasons.

Wow, that's a blast from the past! Back in the days of downloading mp3s from Napster (and ShareBear, WinMX, AudioGalaxy Satellite, Kazaa Lite, Limewire, etc.), I used to have this song burned on a CD and later my iPod.

Did any of you guys get the simpsons album back in the day? I think it was called The Simpsons Sing the Blues.

It had Do the Bart Man. I still get that shit stuck in my head.

Yes! That red cover. I was thinking about this album the other day. That Bart song about being in trouble and the Mr Burns song.

"ring ring goes the bell. The cook in the lunchroom is ready to sell. You're fortunate if you can find a seat. You're lucky if you have time to eat. Back in the classroom, open the books. The teacher don't know how mean she looks."

Lololol. What fucking YEAR was that? 90?

Bart had bars! I just saw that Jazzy Jeff did scratches on that song. That was 1990. One of the first albums I ever owned.

Holy shit, I remember the part in the Trouble song, where Homer says "now you can't go-to the boat show!"

Lolol. I was 10 in 1990, and just two short years away from discovering NIN.

That fucking bartman song is permanently ingrained in my memory, thirty years later.
