I'm in over like 30 different mostly gaming related discord servers, quite familiar with the app so i am absolutely thrilled that there now exists an official server. (even though we had an unofficial one for some time)

I hated the unofficial one so much. Literally one of the worst places I have ever been. Extremely unsupported, held grunges at the fact I hated a song from The Fragile, made fun of me by spamming meme emotes when I showed them lyrics to a song I wrote about how my depression felt like and one them got pissy at me because I had a lyric that reference a NIN song that didn't even had lyrics in it. Im 100% on board with the new one

Discord as a thing is growing on me. Still a bit clunky and chaotic but i think I tweaked the notifications and whatnot to avoid as much garbage (and there's a lot of it) as possible. It's an interesting way from them to connect with the fans while having a moderating team to flush the shit. Interested to see how they use it for announcements compared to Twitter...ie: Discord first, Twitter (and etc) later?

Expanding on this a bit. I'm on hour 16 of actively using Discord, bear with me. Searching for a user results in all their responses. I don't see myself searching a lot so searches for the band members will stay right at the top. Jumping in to check the band member activity will likely be my approach to keep the fire hose at bay.

Hell if i know, I was using the discord app as per normal when all of a sudden the server vanished from my very eyes in real time. I thought it was just a technical thing like it was taken offline or something, so i messaged a mod that is also in the UNofficial server and they're telling me that I'm trying to circumvent a ban and that there's been other accounts and I'm just like WHAT?!

Worried I'm going to harass band members?
Matched IP with other accounts?

What on earth is going? I have never displayed any such conduct and i think my history with this board and interactions with you guys can vouch for that.

hmmm i can vouch for you being a lovely member of our community. maybe there’s a mix up of some sorts.

i was wondering if it had to do with you posting that photo from the tour journal i shared from the hotline. i don’t think i saw any rules about sharing content tho. more about behavior and spamming.

Well in any case it's left a bad taste in my mouth, this is an absolute first of anything like this happening let me tell you and I am in some pretty strict discord servers.

Either it's a rogue bot or a rogue mod or someone has it out for me. I am actually kind of disturbed by this wondering if any of my accounts have been hacked or anything of the sort however i haven't seen any evidence of anything like that occurring.

I only have and have ever had one single discord account, i don't make sock puppets to impersonate people or cause trouble i mean my lord.

Hmmm...I was just thinking if you used something like NordVPN or another and someone WAS harassing the band or pulling whatever shenanigans in the unofficial NIN Discord on that same IP at some point, then that could make sense if you just so happened to be on the same VPN server they were using, but even the chances of that seem pretty unlikely. Weird and shitty.

Something weird was going on in that channel...the moderator bot was posting notifications about deleted posts, mainly due to oddball repeated characters or posts with ALL CAPS.
