Maynard namedrops Trent twice in the Rick Beato interview, citing The Fragile as inspiration for coming up with vocal melodies, notably on the Thirteenth Step. And again a few minutes later, as inspiration for contrasting rhythmic patterns between Weak & Powerless and The Noose. Starts around the 33 mins mark.

I don't recall seeing this interview before. Not the best quality, interview from 1994.

See, if Katie had been on the Albummer Quake episode it would have actually been good.

Speaking of which I finally got a chance to listen to that. I'm actually upset they approached it the way they did. If you're going to do a soundtrack to a video game, at least take 30 minutes to start it up to see what the music is like in-game.

    edit:

During a recent conversation with The Guardian, actor Robert Patrick talked about how he tried to get director James Cameron to include a Nine Inch Nails song in Terminator 2. For those who have not seen the movie, Patrick plays an evil cyborg who ends up battling that of Arnold Schwarzenegger (who was an evil cyborg in the first movie, but is a good guy in the second film).

As he told The Guardian, during the time that Terminator 2 was being made, Patrick’s brother was actually a touring guitarist for Nine Inch Nails. Among the band’s songs, one that really stuck with the actor was “Head Like a Hole”; he actually liked the song so much, that he brought the idea of including it in the film to James Cameron. However, Cameron shot the idea down in favor for Arnold’s “preferred” metal band. Here is Patrick providing the details himself:

“When I was making Terminator 2, I used to work out to Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails, because my younger brother, Richard Patrick, was a touring guitarist for them. I took it to Jim Cameron and tried to get him to use it for the soundtrack to Terminator 2, but he said: ‘No. Arnold prefers Guns N’ Roses,’ who went on to record You Could Be Mine, an original song for Terminator 2. It’s ironic because Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails has won a couple of Oscars for his soundtracks now.”

We personally think “Head Like a Hole” would have been a great addition to the film. Something about NineInch Nails and action sci-fi just makes perfect sense, you know? If you had to pick between either song – “Head Like a Hole” and “You Could Be Mine” – which one would you pick to feature in the movie? Below are links to other movie related stories you can check out.

Reading “We Sold Our Souls” by Grady Hendrix:
DAVE THE METAL GUY: …and Insect Narthex is a radical departure. You’re more in the mold of Marilyn Manson, or Trent Reznor at this point in your career.

TERRY HUNT: I’ve got more showmanship than Reznor, and I’m more intense than Manson, but really I’m about transcending genres. My fans are some of the most intelligent listeners alive. They listen to Metallica, they listen to Tool, they listen to Wagner. They listen with what I call “honest ears.”

DAVE THE METAL GUY: So you don’t think Koffin is a heavy metal band?

TERRY HUNT: Koffin sings about real things, about social change, about actual emotions, about 9/11. Metal is an act. Koffin is real.

If you're going to be in Cleveland on the 23rd and aren't already a member of the official Discord, now might be the time to join!

    https://www.rockhall.com/events/nine-inch-nails-fan-day

Ahead of Nine Inch Nails’ one-night-only performance at Blossom Music Center, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will host Nine Inch Nails Fan Day on Friday, September 23. The day will be highlighted by a 3 p.m. Rock Hall exclusive simulcast Q&A with 2020 Inductee Nine Inch Nails. Fans can view this simulcast for free on the Rock Hall’s Union Home Mortgage Plaza. A limited number of invites to view the Q&A in-person will be offered to members of Nine Inch Nails’ Discord community. Fans who can’t make it to Cleveland can subscribe to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame YouTube channel or visit NIN social media channels to view the livestream as it happens or to watch later. Additionally, a rebroadcast of the interview will premiere on SiriusXM’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Channel 310 at a later date.

Nothing overly thrilling, but it's fun to catch these little things. I was watching this YouTube doc on an internet scandal, and noticed SOME version of Ghosts IV...35?...coming in hot near the 5:20 mark: perhaps some variation of it from a soundtrack, or a remix...I'm sure one of y'all can tell me.

The primary origin is definitely from Ghosts IV, 35 ish. I know that much.

Edit: AND, The Becoming instrumental, starts loud as FUCK around 39:20, and continuing in a much more quiet manner for about a minute.
