It's official, Disney has bought 20th Century Fox which means that the Fantastic 4 and the X-Men might be in the MCU very soon: https://news.avclub.com/bow-down-bef...rds-1827935482
And looks like the Power Rangers film from 2017 IS getting a sequel...

...well i hope it's more of the last 25mins of the first and less of the 1 and a half hours of awful teen drama the film mostly consisted of. And they FIX KIMBERLEY, HER CHARACTER WAS WRITTEN AS A FREAKING AWFUL PERSON!!!
I read somewhere that they want to make the Green Ranger a girl which would be interesting.
The Oscars to add a 'Most Popular Film' category.
This is horseshit. Did The Shape of Water scare those old fucks that much, that they needed to create a category to just shove genre/'offbeat' films in order to keep them away from Best Picture?
Personally speaking I don't think The Shape of Water was even close to being the best movie of last year. It's barely even in the top 3 Del Toro movies for me.
But my personal feelings aside, if what you say is true and this category is just to shove more offbeat/genre movies into the mix then that's a great thing. There is, for me at least, a difference between best picture and most entertaining.
One of my personal favourites of last year was Ingrid Goes West, but I'd be kidding myself if I thought it was close to Best Picture worthy. Maybe it would have had a chance in this new category? (That's a terrible example because I don't think Ingrid Goes West was popular, but you get my point....I hope)
As long as they keep it from being something like the MTV movie awards or the Nick awards where random people vote I think it's going to be OK.
If they want people to watch three hours though, they're going to make it some weird American Idol type thing where you vote live.
I think they're spooked about the last Oscars' ratings - apparently it was an all-time low. If you don't have a horse to back for awards, then you're less likely to watch, so it makes sense to add a category with broader appeal. By far their biggest ratings in the last 20 years came when Titanic was nominated, which is also the biggest hit during that time (in adjusted domestic $).
Bear in mind this is coming in addition to various other changes, such as cutting the running time by a quarter and airing several weeks earlier. I'm not sure why the air date has changed, but the truncation is pretty clearly an urgent move towards accessibility.
God damn!
Now, Damon Wayans is quitting the 'Lethal Weapon' tv series.
tl;dr "I'm a 58 year old diabetic, I'm done." He wants to try live theater and more importantly be with his family. This show is probably done.
So games are the new 'new' in Hollywood, on Top of the Sonic and Mario Movies out next year, looks like we're also getting a Monster Hunter, Mega Man and...*checks notes* Dance Dance Revolution???

Regarding Dance Dance, According to the trade news sources Deadline and Variety, the "project will explore a world on the brink of destruction where the only hope is to unite through the universal language of dance."
...the hell are people smoking in Hollywood?!
