    William Gibson

Going to see him talk about his new book tonight! The new book, Distrust That Particular Flavor, is a collection of his nonfiction writings (articles, speeches, etc). I've really enjoyed it so far, as it provides both an insight into him as an author and his intriguing views as a futurist.

I've tried, but I can't get into Gibson. I read Idoru, which I thought was pretty bad: I liked some of the descriptions, and the bits about computers, and cyberspace were interesting, but the plot was beyond terrible. I started Neuromancer, but the "noir" voice irritated me no end. Do you have a recommendation for his absolute best book? Cheers.

Hmm. Since you didn't like Neuromancer (normally my first recommendation), I'd suggest trying Spook Country or Zero History. That trilogy is in a contemporary setting, and has some interesting takes on augmented reality and clothing design, respectively.

Why yes I am basically posting the same picture in anticipation of his new book coming out in January (and I've changed bookshelves).

Finally was able to grab a first edition of Count Zero in hardcover... and until Burning Chrome gets a HC release, I think I have them all now. Maybe next year I re-read them...

I know this was posted elsewhere a few years ago but I was reminded of it today...

I guess the Neuromancer show on Apple TV is now officially a thing?
