I wouldn't say confirmed BUT at least its on the table which makes me very very happy!!! I would be happy if they did this instead of a normal tour for the time being so everyone can sit (sit down or you will be escorted out policy so everyone sits and can enjoy) and not be cramped together (and a few seats blocked off for social distancing!

Makes you wonder which members he talked to. We know he invited Charlie. I assume people like Richard Patrick, Danny Lohner, Josh Freese, maybe even Jerome Dillon. Think he made amends with Chris Vrenna? Think he tracked Aaron down? Probably safe to say Jeordie wasn't included, given his allegations a few years ago. Maybe Adrian Belew was finally going to play with them onstage...

In a very weird way... as an American who lived in the UK for 7 years, Trent has picked up a lot of british-speak (not accent, just phrases) that I find interesting. There was another prior, but he said "get on with people" vs get along as an American would say. Before people get uppity, it's simply an observation.

Been hanging out with Atticus for a while now, I wonder if he's hooked to PG Tips as well.

Q: Any chance we'll ever hear any of your scoring work in a live concert setting?
A: We've thought about something that could be a variation of that, and it's one of those things we'd like to pull off -- not in the 'here's scenes from movie with an orchestra in the front'-kinda way, but... I like the idea of live performance that gets away from being in a rock band, you know, where we could stretch out, [it would] focus on the score work, and also some of the instrumental side of Nine Inch Nails in a place where the audience isn't expecting moshpits and violence and strobe lights. I believe that will happen. I believe that next thing that's gonna happen when we're able to play live is the way of Nine Inch Nails would play (we were supposed to be on tour this fall), and then I think we'll focus in that concept - something that becomes an immersive experience, something you can sit back and watch rather than standing up. Something like that. Super indulgent, 14-hour concert, you know.

edit: oh no. I'm so sorry. Blame me if you want.

The diehards will eat it up but sitting and doing a 3 hour instrumental concert is going to leave a majority of the audience restless. You are going to get plenty of casual fans and fans who just wanna throw down going to these shows.......Like when Chris Cornell would do solo acoustic tours and people would be screaming for Soundgarden songs 10 minutes into the show. J Mascis does acoustic shows and people scream for Dinosaur Jr songs 5 minutes into it. The Beastie Boys do a live book tour and people are screaming for them to play 'Sabotage'....If Trent got pissed off at people screaming during 'Hurt', I can only imagine how aggravated he will be on the instrumental tour. He will be in the middle of a 10 minute piano piece and people will start screaming for "Closer" or "Head Like a Hole"...You can see it a mile away

And hopefully those people will be quickly and firmly escorted off the premises. I've seen enough intimate sit-down shows go off without a hitch to know that it's doable.

Read: this doesn't appeal to me, therefore I'm going to assume most people won't get it or want to see it.

If it's advertised properly and done in the right setting, there's no reason that would need to happen. Trent did the Bridge School Benefit shows years ago and, as far as I know, there weren't people screaming for him to do the hits. That was probably because they knew going into it that it wasn't going to be that kind of show. Based on the interview, it seems like Trent & Atticus would want to do what they could to make it a different experience to a Nine Inch Nails show.

If they eventually do this sort of thing, it's bound to not be under the NIN moniker (how about "Reznor & Ross: Soundtracks for Daydreams"?), and perhaps booked into venues that can comfortably host unamplified, symphonic-type concerts — think those classic European-style 'shoebox' halls. I could see them bringing along a vastly different backing lineup (Strings? Horns?), and it all being well-publicized as such, so attendees aren't confused about what they're getting. And I'm sure we can all think of a few NIN instrumental gems that'd work in this context, but the key attraction would be a wide breadth of material that they don't really tackle onstage with NIN and in a very different type of show.

A few years ago they made fans wait in lines to buy tickets. (Which i thought was cool experience but Cue the endless bitching). I'm sure TR+AR are VERY aware of the bitchy nature of some of their fandom. Plus they seem to be very witty when they write to us in Email blasts and on their merch descriptions (2020 Tour Tee + Merch) - all this leads me to believe that they would be extremely vocal and upfront about what kinda show they would put on to avoid causal fans from going.

I can almost hear their "tongue in cheek" "if you're not a fan of the "quiet, instrumental side of NIN and the soundtracks ... it might be best you sit this one out as this will probably not be the tour for you.

I dunno, I saw them play Gone Still, Lights in the Sky at a heavy metal festival. Trent is not averse to playing against audience expectations sometimes

I wish someone would ask what the status of new NIN music is. I mean new NIN music with vocals. I'm dying to know.

Well, as he said he would be doing NIN after he had got Soul and Mank out the way, and they're just starting to mix Mank now, I would guess they haven't got very far yet.

But in all seriousness, I would love to go to a Ninstrumental show. Mostly because I would love to hear a lot of those songs live, but also because it would be nice to leave a concert not smelling like stale beer and vomit for once.
