If Tapeworm leaked tomorrow, or even ten years from now, there's no doubt we'd all be ecstatic. Why wouldn't we be? We're fans of Nine Inch Nails. Many of us also enjoy the extended family. Is that so wrong?

Not everything has to be a scandal.

If Tapeworm stuff leaks tomorrow, people who bitched every day about not having it will be the first ones to bitch about how mediocre it actually is and did they really fucking wait 17 years for this disappointment.

It probably is mediocre. There is no way it can live up to the hype. A monster has been created. The expectations are it will be Fragile meets Lateralus. Its like Axl with his shitty Chinese Democracy album. The hype was so huge, there was no way it would live up to it....Now I could see TR leaking it with a message like "see told you it sucks" or something to that effect.....

It's the lore that keeps the narrative going, at this point. Though I don't order from the menu at Charlie's Nothing Burgers and believe for a minute there was "really nothing to the whole thing". When Alan or (more likely) Danny does an AMA and their claims that an album's worth of demos were tracked and exist, or an album was ready for production/mixing before legalities from different sides arose, are brought up and they shoot the whole thing down as being dead and buried, then it'll be a case that is closed..

Charlie got booted from Camp NIN in 2002. By that point, Alan had already tracked the surplus of demos for an album, and at least a year later Danny was saying the whole thing was ready to see production if lawyers would get out of the way. There is definitely at least an album of Tapeworm stuff and it's good enough that Danny -- the main guy in the project who was there for the whole thing -- was ready to produce and release it..

Mediocre? No way. Were Passive and Potions mediocre? The other songs that have confirmed ideas from Tapeworm were let-downs? I guess it just depends on what kind of fan you are. For me, this is the one I want the most..

Tbh there are lots of (allegedly) recorded but unreleased songs by various artists that I'd absolutely prefer to Tapeworm. Nice idea for a new thread, actually...

Deftones 'Eros' tops my list, more than Tapeworm.....So does the Ice Cube/Dr. Dre collab album Heltah Skeltah from '94
