Article on the making of the Zeit video. It mentions two of the band were injured during the filming. Richard said a few months back he hurt his foot when he jumped from the boat and landed on Paul's ass. The other injured member was probably Paul, owner of said ass. No track spoilers except that Lügen has autotune and Angst is a banger (thought of your comment ^above^, @Erneuert )

The greatest love story in Rammstein is Richard and his cigarette.

I am so ready for this! Wish I could make it to a screening.

hasitleaked is always a good place to figure out the source of leaks. They won't link you to it, but they'll tell you the name of the site it's on, which you can usually find pretty easily.

Off to a slow start, then Giftig kicks you in the face. Schwarz is awesome, and Armee isn’t the usual epic opener you’d expect, IMO.

    Also,

^ It literally opens with a women’s choir singing the title. I was way off, hahaha

Meine Tränen and Angst are a one-two punch of awesomeness. The former is extremely sad. Can’t wait to see the Angst video.

The opening of MT reminds me of Puppe somehow.

Dicke Titten is the album’s “silly track”.

Lügen, the first half, is basically all spoken word, then the latter half is complete awesomeness.

Adieu is… much heavier than I anticipated given the lyrical content.

This will take some time to digest.

Wondering if OK was originally intended as a Lindemann track? And can you imagine Angst & Lügen live?! Say goodbye to the Deutschland RZK remix, Tattoo & Diamant.

I'm now firmly convinced that Thomas Rothe was the inspiration for Adieu, and expect to see the album (or at least the song) was dedicated to him.

Everything you said wouldn’t surprise me. And yes, could definitely see those being done live.

Although, the band tends to have a penchant for omitting the final two album tracks live.

    I agree.

Have you listened to it all yet?

Also, which track was supposed to be reworked from Ramm4? I don’t hear it…

I think the crappy quality of the leak made me underestimate Armee as an opener. Blasting it in the car on better speakers makes it sound epic.

Halfway through the album now. Very solid. Loving the atmospherics on this one.

Edit: The went by so quickly! yeah, the keyboard and synth work on this are awesome. The album is… sparse (in that it has a lot of room to breathe), atmospheric, and heavy (at times). In a way it reminds me of how Rosenrot felt after Reise, Reise.

The opening track is pretty sweet. It starts a little slower and lurches into a steady gallop that sets the stage for the rest of the album pretty nicely.

There are definitely some interesting artistic choices made on the back half of the album, but none of them bothered me. I actually think I like Dicke Titten more than their other goofy songs. As far as the auto tune track goes…I don’t mind how it’s used and the song sounds cool. That said, I’m glad it’s limited to just the one track.

It was very easy to listen to front to back. Looking forward to digging into this one some more and picking up the vinyl.

I'm quite surprised by the early reviews as they don't seem too enthusiastic about the record. Then again, I am intrigued that many call the album a little bit mellow and more meaningful. Pretty much what I want to see from Rammstein these days giving up the silly antics.

I will wait until tonight to listen to the record, apparently it's Dolby Atmos so it should be a pleasant hearing experience.

Kind bummed though that the video is being released tomorrow as well, so the "special preview" is rather lame given the fact that everybody else gets to experience it all a couple hours later. But I'm still looking forward and maybe there will be some extras or giveaways.

I hate to say this, but I really don't like this record.
I hope it grows on me.

The songs all kind of sound the same and blend together. There aren't any catchy hooks or sing-a-longs.

That's my first impression after 1 listen though.
Only stand out tracks were Giftig and OK.

The second I hard "untitled" I fell in love with it and felt it was amazing. Still do.

Very different vibe this record has.

    @Erneuert , I didn't hear anything approximating Ramm4 either, happily.

Speaking of openers, what are the odds that AdT will be the set opener?

Instagram pics of the stage being assembled in Prague, and according to one website Makeeva is again looking for girls for the shows. The Rammstein tour is ON!

    Oh wow! That was nice!

Super cozy event today at the ARRI cinema here in Munich, pretty much the most luxurious one here with lounge seats and table serivce.

The event lasted 50 minutes and we went through the whole record with the respective music videos being shown and some neat visuals for the other songs which I will describe below.

Overall I have to confess that this is my favorite Rammstein record since Reise Reise. Many of you know how indifferent my feelings are about this band, but I was quite surprised how mature this record sounds. Just like it should with the guys aiming at 60 years old. Didn't hear anything resembling Ramm4 either and the autotune is serving the song well, although I could have done without. But it doesn't bother me really.

Personal favorites: Armee der Tristen (!!!), Giftig, Angst (!!!), Adieu

Weakest song: Schwarz (very mediocre and in no way standing out at all)

Stinkers: OK, Dicke Titten, yet I like the heaviness and there are some neat musical cues in both of them. The instrumentals will sound pehnomenal.

Sadly no giveaways or something, yet a friend of mine told me they got Lebkuchenherzen with "Dicke Titten" on them as a gift in Berlin. Can do without, but absolutely no giveaway was a little downer, since the Oktoberfest-vibe of the song makes it perfect to have something special going on in Munich. Oh well...

Talked to some people after the event and many of them were quite sure this is meant to be Rammstein's swan song. While I can see what they mean, this record sets some high standards production wise or maybe it was just the Atmos experience that made it sound THIS good. Maybe it is the end, maybe not. We will see... Anyhow, I overall enjoyed the heavyiness of the guitars, the many sweet synth and piano cues as well as Till's mix. Super deep and heavy. The orchestration was amazing as well and I especially dug those oriental bits and pieces here and there, especially in Adieu.

Now what about the visual for the songs? Let me describe them real quick:

    1. Armee der Tristen: black and white glitch art similar to NIN and a little Kraftwerk-ish, only abstract forms no real live footage, but pretty cool.
    2. Zeit: the music video
    3. Schwarz: only the head sculpts that we know from the MIG era, but in pitch black rotating throughout the song real slow with Till's head being the last one.
    4. Giftig: black and white footage of various animals (alligators, squids, toads, spiders and snakes), highly stylized to fit the song and beats
    5. Zick Zack: the music video
    6. OK: pretty much a lyrics visualizer in red neon lights, giving it a kind of strip club atmosphere. The last verse had sperms flying across the screen and a pair of lips kissing and biting.
    7. Meine Tränen: an expressive dancer dancing along to the song in a huge wind canal. The same one that is seen in the promo artwork shot by Bryan Adams for the record.
    8. Angst: premier of the new music video
    9. Dicke Titten: another lyrics visualizer with the Lebkuchenherz and the lyrics playing out on it. Pretty lazy...
    10. Lügen: A rose in front of a pitch black screen blooming, catching fire and finally turning to ashes. Simple yet beautifully animated.
    11. Adieu: same location as for Meine Tränen, but this time a girl is giving it all. Very cool to look at.

Special note: the end credits had a little instrumental conduected by Olsen Involtini. Nothing special and more atmospheric, but kinda neat to close it all off.

So yeah, color me impressed! Really liked that kind of presentation and oh boy, the music video for Angst is out of this world! Absolutely loved that one and probably one of my all time favorite modern Rammstein videos. Stefan Gwisdek sure has an amazing style and it suits the band rather well. The song is a blast and I can't wait to see what they will do with it in a live setting.

That being said: the record doesn't really have that "hit" single so I can agreee with @Erneuert , but the whole grandeur of it all makes it shine for me and reminded me of some Mutter era tracks in all the good ways. The record is nowhere near the perfection that is Mutter or some of Reise, Reise, but I really enjoyed what I was hearing. If this is indeed the end, than I can only say: Bravo! Well done boys! Dankeschön!

To close it all off: I really hope that Armee der Tristen is the opening track for the upcoming live shows. I'm very excited for the show in Berlin in June and I am pretty sure we will get a few more dates for the new record in Europe and the US.

Feeling exactly the same after first listen. This is the first Rammstein record that didn't immediately grab me on first listen. Maybe that's a good thing, dunno yet? Definitely gonna give it many more listens though.

While it feels weird to some to say it all sounds the same and blends together, since most people probably think that of all Rammstein, I agree completely. There's something not quite the same in this album on first listen compared to others. It's just doesn't have the same bite or swagger to it that I'm used to with them. Again maybe that's a good thing, maybe there's more than the usual Rammstein here that I haven't discovered yet on my first cursory listen while at work?

What’s the explicit word in Schwarz?

    Whores?

Lügen is definitely stuck in my head.

How come all the songs aren’t in caps like the untitled and the recent Emigrate release? Weird how they did that.

The two songs I thought I'd like, Meine Tränen and Lügen, I was wrong about - I LOVE them. I've played Lügen about 5 times already and agree the autotune actually serves the lyrics here.

Armee der Tristen makes me think of both the dance of death scene in The Seventh Seal and any scene from Fellini's La Strada, and I mean that in a good way! The song is an earworm and has got to be performed live.

OK was absolutely intended for Lindemann and I thoroughly enjoyed the nonsense.

Haven't made my mind up on Dicke Titten and Giftig.

Surprisingly Angst and Adieu are leaving me cold. I wonder how I'll react after seeing the new video?

I'm enjoying the album but overall this feels "unfinished," that something else was needed to spice the soup pot for several of the songs. The most polished to me is Zeit, I love it and have even more appreciation for it now. And speaking of appreciation, have even more of that for my favourite Rammstein member, Doktor Christian Lorenz. Love that Flake.
