This horrible sterilization company has been emitting a cancer causing chemical for years without disclosing it. Residents became aware last July and local government shut them down over permits and they've been closed since. But now, supposedly the FDA wants them open to help with corona virus PPE needs. But corona virus can be killed with heat and soap so why would they open a plant that emits a known carcinogen into a metropolitan area? Obviously something shady is happening somewhere at the top. Why would the FDA pursue this method? The only air testing my community did in the days around the shut down showed high levels all around my neighborhood. Trumps EPA hasn't done anything about it since Obama's EPA reclassified the chemical (ethylene oxide) as carcinogen.

I'm stuck in my home to avoid the sickness but they're gonna pump my neighborhood full of poison. It's fucked up.

My 365 allergies and use of Flonase have nearly wiped out my sense of smell (anosmia).

So this won’t be a good indicator for me, lol.

I’ve read about the willow brook facility. So sad that there’s so many sick people because of it. They were successful in shuttering that plant. I don’t know why we aren’t here. It was always a temporary closure but they’re supposed be complying with the county regulations before they can open. This decision bypasses that somehow. So weird and sad.

I finally got my test results. Came back negative. Still need to be careful due to immune system issues but at least don't have to do full quarantine.

3 GOP senators holding up stimulus cuz of unemployment benefits...
Wish they cared this much about all the money they're giving Wall Street and corporations.

So, is it really necessary to pay unemployment benefits which result in higher income than employment? I think they may have a valid point.

A trio of GOP senators, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott of South Carolina, are threatening to delay the bill unless an expansion to unemployment insurance is tweaked to guarantee no one would get paid more if they’re laid off than what they made previously

It helps that we elected a Democrat Governor who was sympathetic to the cause. The EPA is aiding Sterogenics. Our former Governor was a former investor. If you want to see who’s stalling, follow the money.

you know what the best part of that bill is?
    Section 4019. Conflicts of Interest.

Any company in which the President, Vice President, an executive department head, Member of Congress, or any of such individual’s spouse, child, son-in-law, or daughter- in-law own over 20 percent of the outstanding voting stock shall not be eligible for loans, loan guarantees, or other investments provided under this Title.

My girlfriend was laid off at her job today, so that sucks. She changed to work at home last week too, she worked for Sysco foods, but with all the restaurants closing their door every day, the company had to lay off approx 80% of their workforce due to dwindling orders. 2020 just keeps getting better and better. If we get to the end of this year unscathed, New Year's eve. is going to be one hell of a party kicking this fucking year to the side.

This feels quasi-relevant to what’s going on.

The idea that we are living inside of a larger organism:

I don't like the use of the word "or" in place of "and/or".

Trump: "Okay, I'll take 19%, Junior can take 19%, uhhh...NERD, SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THAT LEAVES US! Uh okay Jared, m'boy, you take 13%...okay, family still has majority voting stock, but none of us own over 20%. We're good."

You know how many times that's been said? Motherfucker was impeached four months ago and it's hardly been even whispered about since. He was barred from ever going near a charity again after being found guilty of stealing $2,000,000 from kids. He paid off a porn star with a six figure sum to keep the affair he had with her (while his wife was pregnant) from going public. I could keep going, but my point is that he's a garbage human being, has been KNOWN to be one for decades, and it got him ELECTED. And NOW, he's about to be the president who made sure that many Americans could stay home and collect their full - or higher - paychecks for months to come. His minions are already on the air agreeing with him that it would be better to just open back up and let people die than to possibly dent the economy for a little bit.

This is the end of nothing for him unless he miraculously contracts and succumbs to the virus.

His plan is going to kill millions, and his popularity is surging.

Americans are used to having financial stress, and the common prescription for that is to go to work. Right now they have financial stress and a health threat that will kill millions.

Trump is offering a solution to one of those two problems, and at present, this disease hasn't killed enough that most people know someone who's died. It will, but it hasn't yet. Right now he's able to write that future death count off as fake news.

He won't be able to forever, because it's coming.

But the reality is his plan is going to kill millions of people if the economy moving again by Easter as he wants. If that happens, most people will know someone who died because of the presidents handling of this by the summer. The only question at that point is whether they will blame him, or go the racist route and blame China.

he already has his answers lined up. it's the media's fault, China's fault, the dems fault, not his. and his followers are buying it hook line and sinker no matter HOW many die. that's just my opinion. I want to be wrong. I hope I am.

this is the kind of thing that will refuse him making it past election. he is flubbing constantly, and, you can visibly see him trying to find where to blame next for opposition that is scientific and not able to hold blame. those tactics are being exposed by this and it will hurt the world and the country. and, when people feel the hurt, they revolt.

I do not see him fighting this one and winning. He's really losing when juxtaposed to greater leaders who are encouraging we come together and stay safe. If they have to vote for a stick on the wall instead, I believe they will

I don't think it's a question of the number making an impact on people, but the increased likelihood that his supporters will know someone closely that died.

A president on the TV saying "35 trillion people you don't know are going to die because that's less of a problem than the economy taking a downturn" will play just fine with his supporters.

A president on the TV saying "Your grandmother died because that's less of a problem than the economy taking a downturn" won't sell with anyone.

It's not real for people yet. It will be. And it's going to probably take millions of death to make it real to Trump's supporters.

Governor's willing it won't come to that.

I know the phrase is "God willing" but I think the governors in most states are the ones who are going to keep us alive at this point.

It warms my heart to see that Weird Al is able to afford what looks like a pretty swanky place. If anyone in the music business deserves that kind of a paycheck, it's him.

(Also, posted in this particular thread because it was his response to the whole "people doing things on balconies" trend.)

Seattle shut down day 1: I had to go out & get some blood drawn at a medical lab. It was downright spooky out there. Very few cars or people. Kind of like the good version of Day the Earth Stood Still. I feel bad for NYC. The footage from there looks like Zombie Apocalypse. Governor Inslee of Washington is negotiating direct with China to try & get supplies & equipment taking the federal government out of the loop. Seems like a smart move.
