The western US states are basically telling Trump to go fuck himself. I like it.
https://www.seattletimes.com/busines...-is-contained/
Trump has repeatedly put the burden of the response onto governors, insisted the federal government “is merely a back-up for state governments” and at one point even called himself a cheerleader.
And Colbert reminded him of all of that in a “Late Show” rant on Monday night:
Sorry, Chester. Reopening the country is not up to you, because you did not have the balls to shut the country down in the first place. You were the one who said you were just a cheerleader. You put yourself on the sidelines. Cheerleaders don’t get a Super Bowl trophy. In fact, they barely get paid. They’re just supposed to look good and spell words right, and you can’t do either!
Honest question for people watching the press conferences:
Why?
one word: Fauci
perhaps, but sometimes you'll just get clips or quotes. I want to see everything he says.
it's weird that I'm finding it hard to see this propaganda video that he aired during the press conference... I know CNN and MSNBC turned off their feeds in protest, but I'd think Fox would be blasting it.
I've tried to watch a few of the conferences, but never make it through. It's hard to not see red every time Trump opens his mouth and starts spewing bullshit.
Is there a more pathetic sycophant than Lindsey Graham?
Lindsey Graham calls to cut coronavirus unemployment benefits by $7/hour: "We’ve got to get that fixed"
On Trump:
“The American people understand what you’ve done for them...“And it’s due to his leadership and the American people working together.”
That motherfucking idiot. The WHO is the reason we are not all dead already.
Some criticism of the WHO is warranted though.

There are some event industry people here, right?

And for any restaurant / bar workers we may have here: https://www.restaurantstrong.org/app...ant/index.html
cutting funding to the WHO is just the strangest decision to make right now. I... I mean, I get that he's doing it to deflect blame, but holy shit.

He’s pissed at them after this:

Meanwhile, in the Demented Egotistical Asshole Department:
Treasury Department orders that all stimulus checks bear the name of Donald J. Trump, per Trump’s orders:

Thank the gods I have direct deposit set up. Probably would have ended up ripping up the check if I saw that shit.
Taiwan told the world health organisation in December that the Corona virus was contagious and the World health organisation ignored them. Continued saying there was no human to human transmission..
There is also a cringey interview circulating of a WHO director, going silent and cutting an interview when asked if Taiwan can join the organisation.
they did a shitty job here. total fuck up.
this is a catastrophe the likes of which has not happened since the organisation was founded, hundreds of thousands will die and there is going to be a major financial depression, that will make the 2008 crash look ridiculous, there needs to be accountability. there needs to be serious reform.
Hong Kong and politicians in countries which have the virus under relative control like South Korea and Japan have all voiced contempt for the way the WHO handled this.
this is a great time to go to a non-monetary system like they did in Star Trek.
what? why is everyone laughing?
* China advised WHO in December
* WHO sees Taiwan as Chinese territory
* Trump was singing WHO’s (and China’s) praises at various times
* Trump changed his mind about WHO because WHO issued a report stating that hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine should be viewed cautiously
* Trump is pushing hydroxychloroquine

100% spot on
Our local grocery store just announced they're now going to be closed on Sundays for the time being. I'm glad it gives their workers a break, but I'm worried this may create a little more panic for people to start attending the grocery store even more now.

COVID-19 vaccine testing to begin in Australia in coming weeks
Phase one testing for a COVID-19 vaccine is set to begin in Australia, in only the third such trial in the world.
Australian clinical trials specialist Nucleus Network will partner with US-based biotechnology company Novavax to begin the testing of the NVX-CoV2373 vaccine in the coming weeks.
It will be the first COVID-19 vaccine to be tested outside the US.
