Except if 69% of adults were actually vaccinated, we probably wouldn't be dealing with the mess that we still are. <18 definitely makes that number drop further, but I can't imagine just considering adults is even that high of a figure.

You're right about 69% being high according to the above site using CDC data. I guess it's a reminder that, *especially* in this case, polling is only as good as the respondent's honesty.

You'd probably still have a mess. I'm in Ontario, Canada we're at 75.1% of those 12+ are fully vaccinated, and our cases are climbing again right now, just as fast as they have in every other wave.

We brought our numbers down significantly with some pretty harsh lockdowns, but we still need to vaccinate more people before this thing is over. I don't know what percentage it'll take, but it's definitely higher than 75%.

Not as bad as the folks who were injected with saline but still shitty.

Sounds like some honest fuck ups with COVID tests, i think the fines are a bit outrageous.

also have you heard of the radon crew?

Covid Renews Interest in Radiation, but Docs Caution Against Pilgrimages to Radon-Filled Mines

While radon is commonly known as a hazardous gas removed from basements, people in pain travel to Montana and pay to breathe, drink and bathe in its radioactive particles. The travelers view the radon exposure as low-dose radiation therapy for a long list of health issues. But the Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization, among others, blame the gas as the second-leading cause of lung cancer. Although cancer doctors use radiation as a front-line treatment to destroy dangerous cells, its role in the U.S. in low doses for other ailments is disputed. The pandemic has recharged that debate as clinical trials across the world test whether low doses of radiation can help treat covid-19 patients.
also my sister-in-law was feeling sick so she had a test Sunday. They called her Sunday night and said "you're negative!" so she kissed her boyfriend goodbye Monday morning for his weeklong work trip. They called her an hour later and said "our bad, you're positive."

I told her to try for a third opinion.

Message from Neil Young regarding concerts & the pandemic. Neil hits the nail on the head, so to speak:

“Recently I pulled out of Farm Aid for fear that unprotected children may become infected with Covid by folks who went to the show, caught the virus, had no symptoms and returned home to hug their kids or someone else’s kids. I felt that we didn’t know what we were up against and we were endangering others, unprotected innocent children in particular. I know of tours that are out there and have to stop where they are and isolate in motels because one person among them tested positive. I ask myself, why are they out there?
Money and business. These two need each other. This has been the American way for years and years. Now it has turned on the country in a new way.
The big promoters, if they had the awareness, could stop these shows. Without that, everyone just keeps going like everything is OK. It’s not. Live Nation, AEG and the other big promoters could shut this down if they could just forget about making money for a while….. They control much of the entertainment business. They hold the power to stop shows where thousands congregate and spread. It’s money that keeps it going. Money that motivates the spreading. The big promoters are responsible for super spreaders.
These giants of entertainment just renovated a lot of old venues and spent a lot of cash to do that. Now they can’t stop selling tickets to pay for it. Money and business. That doesn’t make this OK. It’s a bad example. Folks see concerts advertised and think it must be OK to go and mingle. It’s not. These are super-spreader events, irresponsible Freedom Fests. We need Freedom to be safe. Not a bad example. This could be just the beginning.”

Young is right… but we need to work. I don’t know where to draw the line. I’ve started taking on live sound gigs again, because I NEED to work. I have to make money.
I tell myself it’s fine, I’m vaccinated, I’ll keep my distance… but really I’m just a hypocrite. I hate this reality so much.

Here in Seattle jobs are going begging. Granted not what you're used to. It's gotten so bad at my local Whole Foods that they've quit doing stuff like fresh orange juice & haven't been able to open the salad bar. Closed the instore cafe too. Just one example.

legitimately it's deep-seated beliefs that if challenged anger the person and in that anger they say "I will not do the thing you say" and will instead find anything else, even if it's grasping at straws. In this case there was some research being done about the drug and how super effective it was. So, that leads to "Oh, I wonder..."

several bouts of literally shitting themselves and going blind later...well.

A Butler County Common Pleas judge is ordering doctors at West Chester Hospital to treat a COVID-19 patient with Ivermectin, a drug commonly used as a livestock dewormer.

Judge Gregory Howard wrote that doctors treating 51-year-old Jeffery Smith "shall immediately administer Ivermectin" to Smith, according to court documents. Smith will receive 30mg of the drug for three weeks.

The case was brought to court by Smith's wife and guardian, Julie, after Smith was hospitalized with COVID-19 and placed on a ventilator in West Chester Hospital.

After Smith was on the ventilator for 19 days, Julie reached out to Dr. Fred Wagshul about Ivermectin usage to treat COVID-19, according to court documents. Wagshul prescribed 30mg of Ivermectin to Smith, but the hospital staff refused to administer this prescription.

Ivermectin has grown in popularity as a treatment for COVID-19 despite the Food and Drug Administration warning against taking the drug.

"Taking large doses of this drug is dangerous and can cause serious harm," the FDA wrote.

The FDA has approved the drug to be used in patients with intestinal strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis, two conditions caused by parasitic worms, as well as head lice. However, the administration has not approved the drug as a treatment for COVID-19, a viral disease.

"Animal drugs are often highly concentrated because they are used for large animals like horses and cows, which can weigh a lot more than we do—a ton or more," the FDA wrote. "Such high doses can be highly toxic in humans."

The pic of the homemade sign requiring proof of horse is sad and hilarious and depressing. Thanks for the articles, good reads.

It's also easy for him to say that the economy can't open back up yet when he's rich and doesn't have to worry about anything. Yes take all the precautions necessary to get back to work, but at the end we still need to open it up. Get vaccinated and be smart...that's all we can do.

My province just announced they'll be going ahead with proof of vaccination for some businesses and activities.

The businesses and activities included are:

Restaurants and bars (excluding outdoor patios, delivery and takeout).
    Nightclubs, including outdoor areas.
Meeting and event spaces like banquet halls and convention centres.
Sports and fitness facilities and gyms, with the exception of youth recreational sports.
    Sporting events.
Casinos, bingo halls and gaming establishments.
Concerts, music festivals, theatres and cinemas.
Strip clubs, bath houses and sex clubs.
    Racing venues.

    Or course he did.

and also, of course he did.
“We immediately threw the kitchen sink at it—all kinds of meds: monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-Pak, prednisone, everything. And I also got an NAD drip, a vitamin drip, and I did that three days in a row. And so, here are on Wednesday, and I feel great. I really only had one bad day. Sunday sucked … Today I feel good. I actually feel pretty fuckin’ good.”

ZPak alone will make you shit like crazy. Mix in the horse gel?

He’ll probably be okay just because the actual good thing rich people can get—monoclonal antibodies, but at least you can count on it that the dope has shit himself a bunch of times this week. Even with the IV drips, he’s going to be hurting.

The funny thing is, this is very good evidence that Covid is no joke. He's in great shape, healthy, and he still had issues. If he didn't have the best care possible, he would be in worse shape. Look at all of the shit he took to get better!

I read that and all I can think of is the USA show Royal Pains -
The series was based in part on actual concierge medicine practices of independent doctors and companies.
    - and I wonder how much worse things are because of these people.
