I also do freelance work doing live sound, and a lot of people I know are getting hit really hard by this. A friend has had to cancel every gig he had booked. The only live sound gig I still have on my calendar is for August, and I might need to cancel that. This industry is getting super fucked.

I wonder if concert ticket prices will go way up after the quarantine? To recuperate all the losses from this.
And everything else's prices as well.

Hopefully all you freelancers are keeping up with the news that you're now eligible for unemployment (normally not the case for 1099 people). Applying is likely to be a bit of a PITA since there's a lot of new stuff going on, but between various state minimums and income-based eligibility, people should be looking at ~800-1,100 a week for the next few months.

Seems unlikely. Fans are losing their incomes too. You're not going to pack arenas and stadiums by trying to get even more money out of people who are currently scrambling to figure out how to pay this month's rent.

    Good 'ole shitty Cuomo is B A C K.

In the middle of the night in the midst of a massive public health crisis, they passed a budget that rolled back bail reform that was just implemented on January 1.

Cuomo is a shitty governor with shitty policies and anyone who thinks he would be a good President based on his handling of this one emergency is high.

I mean, it's a widely accepted fact at this point...but your president is a pile of human garbage and the world would be better if he was dead.

Florida Governor exempts churches from orders against public congregations.

So, fuck it, I guess, right?

Saw the top infographic about when counties began taking the stay home guidance seriously. It seemed pretty familiar, so I started with an electoral map but then came across this gem.

This is another example of why the "level-headed" people that attend church don't want any one to know.

ETA: Been attending virtual services and worship for almost 2 months now. It's not ideal, but a public downtown gathering of 1200-1800 people a service is even less ideal.

I'm certainly not the first to point this out but that suggestion is nothing but an enormous self-own. Really incredible stuff.

He basically just said that Republicans are too dumb to do more than one thing at once.

They control two thirds of the government and they still act like helpless fucking babies.

    Shortages not caused by hoarding.

40% of toilet paper use is commercial. When you close down commerce and shift everything to residential, residential demand goes to nearly 100%; except, commercial TP isn’t intended for residential use, nor is the commercial TP industry geared up for the residential market. Ditto for commercial produce, etc.

It appears that some commercials industries are now selling directly to residential. Interesting stuff.

Yah, but it looks like you won't have an ICU bed shortage. See here: https://covid19.healthdata.org/projections

It seems counter intuitive but states able to draw out the crisis over a longer period of time will be better equipped to save as many lives as possible.

Edit: this is a bit of an oversimplification as you'd also be relying on serious curve flattening (and therefore serious public buy-in) to be an optimal situation.

That's not necessarily true. Missouri is, I would almost go so far to say, one of the most underprepared state in the entire country in terms of medical equipment. One of my good friends is an IC Nurse at one of the biggest hospitals here in Missouri and is also a top rep for their local union. She's currently going HARD trying to get the proper medical equipment because of how little the area has to spare. They are all having to share PPE and scramble for equipment from other sources. And this is with KC having an insanely smaller amount of cases than St Louis. The hospitals in KC are already feeling the struggle, and it hasn't even really hit here yet. But this is just from years and years and years and Republican leadership in the state that has forever put health and education at the absolute bottom of the list of things to worry about in good ol' red blooded conservative avangelical Missoura.

I second this. I'm from STL and one of our friends who works at Cardinal Glennon says they are fucked if this thing blows up and the feeling in STL is that it will. Rural North & South MO are gonna crowd KC and STL because they've been bumkining it up and not paying attention to this shit.

You are absolutely right...I was speaking from ignorance by looking at projected data with no real grasp on how things are in the present state.

I keep thinking just how much worse this could have been for Kansas City if the Chiefs had won the Super Bowl just a couple weeks later. We had 1,000,000 people jampacked into the downtown area for that parade. It would have been fucking game over here I bet.
