I think that was just speculation. When Not The Actual Events came out, there were a few people who were absolutely convinced that it was comprised of leftovers from previous albums, mainly because of some of the production and the presence of Grohl and Dave Navarro. Personally, I always thought that was incredibly silly. Trent is friends with those guys, so I never understood why it was so inconceivable that they could contribute new material to the EP.

It was from one of those With Teeth Demo CD’s a couple of weeks ago. One track was supposedly a version of Idea of You.

Interesting, although I don't know how much I trust someone saying that, especially if they're trying to sell a rare item.

Well this was the version that wasn’t put on eBay. They both surfaced the same weekend see the surrounding posts for more details/speculation.

He had a Patreon AMA a few days before that and I asked him the same thing (about "The End", "Good Day" and "Cover It Up" having any similarities with "Idea of You") . Here's his response: "I should probably not comment any further on that one, it's really not my place to talk about unreleased NIN stuff."

What had me going was the sound of TR's voice, which suddenly sounded a decade younger in some spots.

Eh, but how much different is that from how he sounds today? Certainly in a live setting there's a noticeable difference, but on the albums, it's pretty hard to tell. It's certainly not like the difference between Fragile-era Trent and With Teeth-era Trent.

It is my sense that he is more careful with his voice on tour now, handing off the more screamy stuff to Robin, but in the studio he's a little more willing to go for it and shred the cords.

Wolfgang Van Halen has a new album coming out. He's sporting a NIN patch in the studio:

The song that sticks out in my memory, is The Idea of You. It's not just the part where he is yelling, it's everything around that. His voice just sounds younger (maybe lighter is a way to describe it), and both the style of singing (and vocal recording production) is reminiscent of the WT to YZ era.

I'm not even gonna click play on that. The sight of that man repulses me.

I dunno...it's good for a yuk or two. Harmless fun, and hardly flattering of El Presidente. I appreciate the art that goes into these things; Howard Stern and co. have done some incredible work with celebrity audiobooks.

^ Man, this is completely NOT a spotting, but I got to see Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara do a cheesy song medley live in person once as Bobby Bittman and Lola Heatherton, and it was hysterical. I'd gladly lobby to have TR let them use his shit if it was turned into this calibre of comedy gold:

This show is fantastic. And this medley would be miles better than the Miley Cyrus thing (which I thought was awesome).

Has anyone been watching High Fidelity on Hulu? This is from episode nine. The shirt was a nice surprise.

I wouldn't read too much into the upside down NIN sticker since it looks like it was haphazardly put on.

To be fair, there were a lot of people in the 90s who put NIN stickers on upside down.
