Seems like another good reason to expel her. Sure, 2/3 is going to be hard to whip even if you assume the +11 Republicans also vote to expel but she is going to cause a lot of headaches for the GOP. At some point, they're going to get tired of defending this shit.

only 11 people voted against her, I'm sure the rest are totally OK with that shit.

They're OK with it now. They were OK with Steve King for a long, long time and eventually that became untenable. I'm not putting money on her expulsion but I won't be shocked if the Rs eventually cut bait.

    to go on vacation.

edit: apparently poor reporting since the initial story has been updated to say it's still just a request.

I am cynical enough to think that it was going to be approved until the blowback.
    Welp, it's now been approved.

Judge: Jenny Cudd can go on Mexico trip

I would not be averse to something ill befalling her.

Is Bruce Castor Jr phoning it in? Whatever he's talking about doesn't seem to have much to do with impeachment.

Edit: Oh I get it, he's leading towards the "unity" bullshit, free speech and whatever.

Trump's lawyers are doing nothing but showboating. They're not even defending what Trump did/said on 1/6.

He could flail about, bend over and light a fart on fire in front of everyone. He knows the senate won't convict Trump.

I keep saying people suggest holding the vote in secret so that a "favorable" outcome would happen. If no one knew how they voted - and thus it wouldn't affect their future campaigns - then I feel you'd have an arguably worse outcome.

but then I'm feeling very cynical about it today.

Is there a Twitter thread that is encapsulating all of this new Security Footage being shown? I've been listening to it on the radio all day and just wish I could see what I'm listening to.

I was hesitant to bother watching the impeachment trial but I’m so glad I watched today.

If you can watch the re-run on CSPAN later, PLEASE DO.

    This was EXPERT litigation.

    RIVETING.

Bravo x 100 to these impeachment managers.

Edit: I should also stress, here, that these are only the OPENING STATEMENTS in the trial.

    They’re just getting started.

    MSNBC the whole night, yes.

Additionally, I think it’s important to remember that this is NOT a courtroom, but this gives us a big picture of all of the evidence against him in a criminal case.

I don’t care if this impeachment trial fails. I want to see him arrested, indicted and tried in criminal courts.

I saw an entire twitter thread yesterday about how the Republicans will try to save themselves from this by not voting. They will thus "win" by getting Trump voted out [(100-17)*(2/3)≈56] and also by not having to take part and be able to say "I'm not the one who cast the vote, they didn't let me!" because they know voters have the memories of goldfish.
